Guest Klazykobbler
Hi all been given a big can of syntic total. its not a product i've used before and me mate how gave me it says he cant get a decent result with it. as far as I know I scour, then prime wait for primer to dry/go off? , appy syntic , let that dry then heat shoe and sole/heel and bring both surfaces together for adhesion. I'm havin a really hard time with it its seems to only work half the time . I have been using it stuff where i would normally use a primer and pta+. any tips/adivce on a correct method? cheers Klazy
robinh
Hi Klazy, The official method from Renia is as follows:- Syntic can be used to bond all types of shoe repair materials. Grind both surfaces and remove all traces of dust and fibres from surfaces. Coat both surfaces with Syntic. On especially absorbant surfaces use a second coat. On TR materials first use Rehagol, leave for 5 minutes and then coat with Syntic On PUR materials coat with a thin layer of Syntic, leave for 10 minutes and then coat with Syntic again. The open time depends on both the material and the ambient temperature but is up to 45 minutes. Syntic can be dried with an infra red lamp at 80 degrees for 3 minutes. If using a hydraulic press reduce the pressure on softer materials to avoid deforming the shape of the shoe and destroying the adhesive layer. It is possible to handle the bonded product after a few minutes and trimming or buffing should not break the bond. The adhesive continues to strengthen during the first 48 hours Please not I am not an expert on adhesives, I am just providing the method as recommended. Hope it helps. Good luck!
