Posted February 24, 2009 Report Share Posted February 24, 2009 Sat down last night to do a quick order from HD , decided to use the website to place ths one , easy enough to use once you can find what you are looking for. However still seems to be lots of items not listed on the site , anyway got as much as i could find on the order and thought i would be able to "add a note" when confirming , but as this option does not come up thought i would phone in this morning to add the missing items. The office seem to be on the ball at the moment , nice lady told me order had been processed and was ready for picking , problem is that once this has happened we are unable to add any items . The precut locker key and engraving tags we need will now be treated as a seperate order , and even though we have spent £130 , and they will probably come in the same box we will be charged postage on these items . Looks like we will be back to ordering via Fax next time , and someone else will have to key our order into the "system" anyone else had a similar experiece . With so many different lines and thousands of items it does take time to photograph, in some instances measure dimensions, type web descriptions, categorise and upload the details to the website. This is an on-going procedure we are working on. I have already mentioned to management the need for a special instructions facility at checkout so anything that isn't on the website can be put in there, it will also be useful for stamping orders and cut keys which you have mentioned. This is something we are going to implement in the future. I myself run off the website orders(as quickly as possible) and at present we are unable to add to any orders that have been 'released' into our new warehouse system. We are trying to get orders out as quickly as possible so that is why you weren't able to add to your website order. We get slated when the orders don't go out quickly so we are in a catch 22 situation really. What I would suggest is if you do want something that isn't on the website to send me a separate email chris@davenport-burgess.com saying you wish to add to your website order. If it's pretty much straight away after the website order then it will be fine. I will sort this for you. I do hope this hasn't put you off ordering online. Whilst I'm running the website orders off during the day pretty much straight away, I do hold them back for a short while in case there is any addition to be made.
