Ray T.
Hi ALL This is just a question .On a good-year welt type shoe do you let your stitcher make the channel or do you pre- channel it like a McKay shoe?I have been pre- grooving all of mine including rubber soles and love the look. Ray T.
Hey guys The reason I asked is because I noticed it that way on this forum but in America the only channel used is what your stitcher is set at. Ray Torcaso

Ray T.
HEY GUYS I am not familiar with the term scotch edge.On the curved needle stitcher there is only a channel knife but you are using the groover for a McKay stitch witch is what I do now.I was saying in the USA 99% just use the channel knife unless its for competition. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Scotch Edge is another term for a Welt guide on a Goodyear Stitcher, some were fixed some adjustable. When you mention "Knife" Ray are you refering to a fixed knife on the machine as some machines have, or are you refering to a hand held knife? Ray T.
Hugh I was referring to the little knife thats on your curved needle stitcher itself and not a hand held knife. You can set the depth but it only scores a thin line. The hardest thing on this site is the fact that we all speak English but we both have different terms .
