  1. Old Post, but I engraved and infilled one of these recently in blue, but the customer supplied the badge
  2. First impressions were, I'm not keen and found it off putting. If a customer comes into my shop and I divert them straight to the Internet via their phones, I feel it defeats the object to a degree....

To be honest, the key trade is crying out for a really good technical/sales rep, who can actually advise you on new blanks/ID...this ain't a dig at anyone in particular as we have loads of reps visit our shop, but I feel the trade never really replaced the sad loss of Stuart from Davenports What that guy didn't know wasn't worth knowing lol

  5. Unfortunately, clever marketing with flatteringly-worded descriptions and photos, will always seduce customers into ordering inferior products online. There'll always be that kind of market now. We all know a pair of Loake/Barker/Cheaney are far superior but it's very difficult to prove that online to a cash-strapped member of Joe Public. They don't take them apart and re-build them on a daily basis like we do and see how poor they are! Hopefully, most people will only make that mistake once, before investing in the tried and trusted, quality brands!
  6. Everyone will moan when there're no towns with independents to shop in anymore and only massive supermarkets/out of town retail parks.
  7. I had a woman in the other week trying to blackmail me into doing 3 cylinders for £10.00 because that's what she could get from Asda. I took great pleasure in letting her know that she couldn't, as they've had their machine removed from our local store
  8. Lol...we all get them. We had a guy in at 11am on Xmas Eve want to order a bespoke perspex house sign off us...I offered him a 1 hour turnaround and he declined hahaha!!

  10. 'Interesting' Glenway are who we use as our main supplier for trophies currently, but probably not next year based on this...
  11. I know SOME of Timpsons staff are useless, but there's two sides to every story. Amazing how many customers suddenly 'spot' faults with their items only after it's been left in your care!!!
  12. I suppose we should take it as a compliment that they think we can repair anything and everything!! lol. I don't mind having a go at an unusual request - it's just when they can't seem to take 'NO' for an answer and nigh on bully you into trying to do it! 'Can't you just do this' 'Can't you just do that'
