Silca Lancer Plus cable failure

Our Silca Lancer Plus was working but there seemed to be a bit of a burning smell coming from somewhere around it but not from anywhere obvious like the motor or the cutters etc. 

On closer examination, removing the base cover, it turned out that a small burn-hole had formed in the cable that goes between the base and the motor on the underside. 

I suppose it could have been a lot worse or even caused a dead short if left for longer.  

I replaced the whole cable with a bit of 4-core black flex (instead of the orange factory fitted by Silca) and all seems to be back to normal. Nothing too complicated as it was only about 30cm long but did need eye terminals crimped on the earth.
