kobblers
The bottom thread has started looping through to the top when I'm stitching - any idea on how to rectify this as I've never encountered this issue before? Cheers. Rick.

Cheers. Rick. Bottom thread tension too loose. Usually worn tension spring on bobbin case or dirt under spring. kobblers

petercoulson
Good answers and first things to check, take the screw out and spring off clean it and try again, whilst it is off look at the shuttle and see if the thread has worn a groove into it if so a little filing or dremmeling will help kobblers
kobblers
Sorted. It was dirty behind the spring and it also need filing to remove a slight groove. Many thanks for the help. Anyone know who does parts for the SInger 29U171? I need new bobbins but I keep receiving ones where the centre hole is too small - a spare shuttle wouldn't go amiss, either. Rick. If you go to the White Rocks hotel in Kefalonia they have loads of old singers dotted around for decoration. I came home with loads of spare parts! Food pretty good as well.. kobblers
