Simes
I am starting to see this Ultion key profile. Any idea if the blanks are available? I can't see them at Aldridges. I have a couple of other profiles that seem quite popular but not this one.
grahamparker
Genuine blanks only and restricted issue dependant on how many cylinders you purchase. I am currently allowed 2 blanks only for every lock i buy. Simes

grahamparker
I now have 3 local Upvc companies actively removing these locks and binning them and fitting other locks instead. almeriasecure

This is a really odd practice, potentially not being able to offer a customer multiple copies of keys isn't great I can see why companies would be unwilling to sell the locks on this basis. Do you ration key blanks, risk upsetting customers at not being able to provide keys there and then because they're going to cut into your supply. I suppose if you're buying hundreds of cylinders a month it's not an issue, but I certainly wouldn't be overly pleased at buying thousands of pounds of stock and then being told I'm limited with key blanks. Auto Key Wizard
Brisant are certantly becoming a nasty company to deal with. We had a client in the other week, Brisant had quoted £60 for one Ultion WXM We supplied three for the same money, but my stock is running short now as down to my last 37 blanks
keyman
Sorry, just to clarify... Was that Brisant charging £60 for one WXM cylinder or one WXM key?
APLLocksmiths
Brisant have certainly ruffled a few feathers with restricting the blanks. They told me that initially they were going to try it for 6 months then review it but who knows. Simes if you need any cutting email my shop and we can do them and post them out for you as we have plenty of blanks shop@apllocksmiths.co.uk
AccessLeeds
If it was sold as a restricted system then fair enough, but to be putting these locks on doors as standard and then restricting key blanks leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Customers don't want a front door key they need to send away for, they want to get one cut. Unless like I say they've specifically requested a registered key, but the Brisant system is sort of half and half isn't it and doesn't really please anyone

k4mrc
was told that there is a 'pass key' about to launch onto the market - time is ticking away with this problem.

Silca won't be making one due to cost but rumour is JMA may be making one. gavin

Count Muppet
Oh sorry, I just meant cylinder locks in general. I’ve never had too much luck with the graphite. Although I think in the past I probably used to much on each lock
rmarsters
Had some problems with Brisant taking key cutting business, if someone went to them they would sell keys direct rather than send them to us (even as an Ultion dealer). Not had problems with getting blanks yet, I think we normally go through Nigel Rose rather than direct.
ponsaloti
I believe Ultion(brisant) are the only company out there offering a 2K guarantee. As an Ultion agent, we do OK and dont have a problem dealing with them.

We buy a lot of cylinders and last count I had about 800 blanks I could order and have a couple of hundred in stock already.
