cobblers.keys
I am looking into buying a key machine but wondering which would be the best option in the long run out of futura (not pro 5 years old) or triaxecode ( cut a little over 4500 keys). also what would each be worth ££s. Thanks again
Lock Stock
You can’t really compare the Triax to the Futura, on quality. Triax is a far superior machine and if you want a machine got years and years, you won’t go wrong with it. The futura on the other hand will do more verity, so if you don’t have any other similar machines might be better. With the Triax just need to look at how old the model is, get a serial number to check age. If you have a new mother board fitted the key count is reset. She loads of machines with false key counts, trying to add value. With the Futura the older machines are really slow cutting and tablets can be an issue. k4mrc
Yup agree with lock stock, I bought the Futura Pro - very slow -for instance, I can cut manually Magnum keys, which are track and dimple the Futura does one I can cut about 12 manually. so big orders we never look at it - i wish i'd bought the Trax even my staff, go straight to the manual cuts even for one
grahamparker
Depends on what keys you want to cut on it and how many you think you will do. I sold my Triax E-code for £4500+vat, that had cut about 4000 keys and i could have got more. The Triax is now outdated so will not cut any of the new keys on the market unless you run the Silca SKP software and this is another huge cost on top of the machine (2k +vat). You can run with Instacode but it is rubbish compared to the Silca software. You would also need to buy the new jaw R30 that takes jaw inserts for any new keys that hit the market. A silca Triax and Unocode 399 with the SKP software is always the best option but your going to be well over £10-12k for a decent second hand set. If you buy a futura it will be ok but you will soon realise you should have spent more. It's the old saying "You get what you pay for", my advice is wait and save or take advantage of the Government bounce back loan scheme the Triax will hold it's value much much more than any other machine on the market. I bought mine brand new for £7800 + vat with a couple of jaws R5 and R160 and a couple of cutters that was over 8 years ago (Aldridges have always looked after me and given me great deals on machinery). I think i could have sold my old Triax 10 times over but was happy with the price i got for it.
rmarsters
Have a Triax and Unocode 399 connected to Silca program and there's not much we can't now. Have to buy a new clamp or blade maybe once a year to keep up with new stuff. I would be interested to know how long Silca are going to keep the key programs supported on laptop, most new machines seem to come with a tablet built in whereas we've got all our machines wired into a laptop. When we changed the laptop over last year it took a bit of messing around to get it to connect properly because the computer wasn't set up for the old machine connections. I would be interested to know how long Silca are going to keep the key programs supported on laptop The new Unocode f900 comes with a built in touch screen not sure if it is actually a tablet but I used it for a good 4 hours using both and the software was always quicker. Silca do not as far as I know have any plans to drop SKP software as it offers so much flexibility when used with the top end machines.
lest@masterkey
With machines like a Triax pro & Unocode pro or the new F400/600/900 is the SKP additional costs or machines come loaded with software ? I’ve also been looking and notice silca offer token system to use the machinery , anyone use this option ? Or is it a bit like the AD stuff like MVP pro or Smart pro using tokens and can be costly to end users? I’ve always gone with the best that’s available for my budget , ownership of a new Triax Pro here for us is the goal , but I’d also like a yacht & a Ferrari ....this time next year Rodney we will keep using the trade services on here for now until the jar is full to go buy one
