x minit uk
For those of you still doing shoe repairs, what bonding methods do you use on this type of material. Thanks in advance.
Paul_
Good luck with those! I've found that a primer/adhesive that may work on one pair may not on the next. Weirdly a tip I was given from an ole boy seems to work best: Prime with a thin layer of flexible superglue then use your usual plastic adhesive (I use Bos.5050), seems to work for me. x minit uk
Cheers , worth a try otherwise i would have to strip down to upper etc.
kobblers
You can also try Kumzof, or similar, as a primer. Rick. x minit uk

algsoul
thin layer of super glue and rub in with some kitchin paper leave to set then something like bostick 6092 works for me lawrence
cobblers.keys
The superglue method is the way I do it. There seems to be a lot of this type of material about now. Spread superglue over bottom of boot using flat object then when dry use 5050 on both. Warm slightly, quick press then leave for a short time before finishing off. Good luck
Count Muppet
It’s hard to tell from the photos but it looks to be the stuff I use S10 primer on. i usually coat the sole with the primer and immediately brush in some 6092 making sure the 2 mix together. Usually in a swirly & stabby sort of motion. then I leave it to dry for half an hour. thin layer of 6092 on top and glue the new sole as normal. Once dry, the shoe will remain slightly tacky. Use the slightest of heat and put new sole on top. Too much heat though will ruin it. leave to set for 10 minutes and carry on as normal. x minit uk
Well I went with the superglue technique , spread it on with a washing up sponge then 50/50 left overnight then another coat of 50/50 , gently warmed up and lightly pressed. It’s stuck like s@#t to a blanket. Thanks for the replies. keithm, Mike at Vauxhall and algsoul

I use the stuff to seal this type of thing or crumbling Eccos (as long as they aren't too bad). Couldn't image not having the stuff around now. x minit uk
elfman
superglue has its uses but would be better if you used the flexable one ,normal one tends to break up and seperate with the flexing of the joint thus weakening the bond
x minit uk
Yeah it was the flexi one.
