If you sell Padlocks or any security products then open under the hardware banner.

Been open 2 weeks now and sales have been amazing.

Quoted for 60 Abus padlocks on Friday and got a purchase order from a local oil refinery this morning even though i am closed as it is bank holiday.

It is looking highly likely they have delayed the next phase for shops until 15th June, the initial announcement earlier this month was hopeful of 1st June. Shoe repairers can open under the hardware bracket as a loophole and loopholes do seem popular at the moment.

Have to say though locally as well as Weston Super Mare as well as other towns Covid cases are on the rise this may have some bearing on the 2 week delay. Only time will tell but it looks like we are on the verge of a 2nd spike hopefully it will be avoided

I've always felt that 1st of June was too soon, especial for our area as a local Doctor told me we had not seen the peek yet in our area and was expecting that about this week. I think there has been a rise in some areas as people seem to think it was all over and stopped being careful and that is why the date change. As said above there is always a loophole that could be found or just disregard any rules and open, as for me I don't feel another 2 weeks is not going to make a big difference business wise and we planed at the start of the lock down for it to last a minimum of 3 months so 15th of June would be exactly that.

just need to look at the VE day celebrations (fortnight ago)people just don't get it do they?

carry on!

Good Point but that is also the weekend restrictions started to lift it all ties in timewise and by June 15th we will see the repercussions of this BH weekend.

BTW 15th June is England only it very much looks like Scotland will be 2 weeks behind that for small retail shops

You can never say never, but if you move your counters, screen them put distancing in place and use a little common sense you should be safer than the day you closed with simple protection in place.

Hardest part now will be getting screens, there is now a major shortage of clear perspex in the country.

Re-opened two weeks ago, and we've been fairly busy mostly with account customers (local builders, maintenance companies, local council) who have needed us to supply for the more unusual things they can't get from Screwfix.

General public trade for everyday key cutting has pretty quiet but it's gradually picking up.  We've got a perspex screen in front of the counter with a hatch for passing things through.  only one customer in the shop at a time and plenty of hand sanitiser.  There's obviously been a few people who can't read all the signs that say only customer at a time but generally people are being pretty sensible.

A coffee shop two doors down opened up yesterday for the first time serving through a hatch and they had a queue outside pretty much constantly!

James Timpson has started the use the “Hardwear” loophole now.

the only hardwear I can think of selling are cheap Chinese padlocks that offer very little security.

so maybe everyone can be covered under dry cleaning or hardwear?

hes just trying to come up with a way of opening the photo shops now

I’m open. Screens all round the counter area. Access control on the door and 1 in 1 out policy. As many signs up as possible and procedures in place for both staff and customers.

Very nice, the only thing I will mention about these manual dispensers is to make sure the push handle is wiped with appropriate materials (proper wipes etc) regularly or it may become a source of contamination quite quickly

Yep!! We have boxes of aerosol sanitiser that’s sprayed every time a customer is in and out. Everything that could be a source is sprayed.
