Mkrichard
Actively looking for a good deal on a used U Marq engraver long term for pet tags and engraving of various items. However in the short term I want an engraver for doing very cheap pet tags for my pet product business. I think that in the short term I can kick this off with a cheap and nasty laser engraver... even though I know they aren't the most hard wearing engraved result. I'm thinking of getting one from Ali Express, not necessarily this one but something like it. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32801323585.html?spm - Has a pet tag in the photo haha, that's as much as y experience goes. If anyone has any experience and can give guidance I would appreciate it.
GLENGRAVING
I'd recommend joining some laser engraver groups on Facebook, many users there are hobbyists/have experience with cheap chinese machines https://www.facebook.com/groups/LaserEngravingAndCutting/ The one you linked looks like garbage (diode lasers are useless), but look on ebay for 'K40 laser' - a 40w CO2 laser which is the hobbyist/entry level standard. They look like a bit of hassle to set up and maintain, and not the highest quality result (as with a Trotec/Gravograph laser etc), but for the price it seems like a phenomenally capable piece of kit. Not user friendly, no manufacturer support (hence the user FB groups), but will mark anodised aluminium pet tags. Don't set your house on fire. Mkrichard
Hmm looks like they are a bit of a hassle to operate and wouldn't be fast. Now looking at the Gravograph M20 ABC Thanks for your help.
Count Muppet
Hi (Richard?) are you based in Milton Keynes? just guessing by your username, everyone in Milton Keynes seems to have an obsession with “MK” if so, you’re not too far from mastergrave in Bedford and Gravograph in Leamington Spa might be worth having a demo? Mkrichard
Hey, no it's my initials. However, Gravograph are going to do a demo for me - they seem a great company, my local rep has been mega helpful.
