Dave the locksmith
Anybody else noticed the massive increase in prices since they went to there "new" discounting system, some keys (standard everyday keys) are 40p per blank dearer now than Silca. Asked why and was told i had to talk to my rep to get "the best" prices.

Paolo SKS
Dear @Dave the locksmith We only had a 3% price increase since March compared to 2017. The new pricing structure will show you the price of a single key then the discount will apply for quantity breaks of 10, 50, 100, 1000. The only difference is that while before you would see on your invoice the net price per quantity, now you only see the single key unit price and the discount. We suggested you to see your rep as he could have explained you better the new structure. Having about 15,000 individual product lines, if you compare all your suppliers you will find some products where we are more expensive and many other products where we are cheaper than the competitions. @kirkybobYou have to compare keys of the same quality when comparing prices, we sold 5,000 of these keys in the last year and not had a single one back or complaints about the price. Feel free to contact me if you need more information. Kind Regards, Paolo Leccese Sales Manager SKS/JMA UK
Dave the locksmith
Ok, no price increase then the discount structure has changed, blanks are definitely dearer. If they are the same why do i need to talk to my rep to get the best price as i was told by sks office ?

NYKeys
I've had what I think is a bad batch of Guardian mortice keys from SKS - the bits seem to be welded on in the wrong spot - leading to an asymmetrical duplication of the cut. I haven't told SKS because other times when I've tried to raise the issue I've got nowhere. Like another problem whereby the SKS branded ERA 3 lever RH keys don't fit onto the SKS hooks! I have to get my drill out and ream the hole a bit bigger. Mentioned it to SKS over a year ago - problem persists to date. I thinned the hook, but I also I found that this key the hole was too small irregardless of the brand. I never send faulty keys back, not worth the effort or expense, just don't order again that particular key from that particular manufacturer. This applies to any of the main suppliers. completelocks
grahamparker
The genuine blanks do not fit the hooks either so thinning the hook is the only sensible option.
almeriasecure
My solution to the keys not fitting is simple. I use key rings. Bex
grahamparker
That only works if you have small stock levels.
almeriasecure
LOL Graham. What length are your keyboard hooks? I fill the hooks up & keep the rest in the boxes they came in or plastic wall storage boxes. completelocks
Mike at Vauxhall
I use to use rings, but I felt it ruined the look of my boards.
Count Muppet
I use rings but hate doing it because they don’t look great. why can’t they just make the holes bigger? Would use less metal and be more profitable for them too.

Most of my mortice blanks are on 8" approx hooks they usually hold 35-40 blanks
