CitySafe
Hi can you help? A customer brought me a front door cylinder UAP and a back door cylinder UAP blank for me to copy. I used a hd uap1 but on the front door they won't work,so I tried a genuine UAP which now won't fit in the lock. I've also tried a hd er6 but to no avail. I also cut spare keys on my test locks and they work. Any idea what I'm doing wrong please.? Hi. Please find a reply below from UAP in relation to this issue: "Due to the volume of cylinders we now supply to the UK market (over 500,000 cylinders a year) we have 3 factories producing cylinders for us. Due to the tolerance of production, and tolerance between factories, we did find a year or so ago a minor tolerance on keyway thickness that meant some of the keys we imported would not fit smoothly into one of the factory keyways. We then produced a new UAP keyblank which resolved the issue, and we ceased supply of the old blank and used that stock in-house for our own master keying department. The new keyblank has been designed to be a universal fit and work well on all UAP cylinder ranges including TL cylinders, UAP+ 1*, and Kinetica 3*. Our product code for this blank is ZLKEYBLANKUNIVERSAL. We have seen in the last few months a few copy keys that will not work well because they do not have the right key depth to cover all the pin heights. We do recommend using OEM UAP keyblanks. However if anyone wishes to to send us their own key blanks to test, we would be happy to do so across all UAP cylinder ranges and covering a variety of pin height scenarios. We would put the unbiased results of those tests on this forum. It is not a part of our strategy to rely on profits from selling an OEM UAP keyblank and we welcome high quality copy blanks that work well. If anyone does have OEM UAP keyblanks and is unsure if they are the latest version, then UAP will happily exchange those keyblanks free of charge." I hope this helps Mike at Vauxhall, SteelCityShoes, Simes and 1 other

Mike at Vauxhall
Was looking at buying genuine uap blanks, but are uap saying they might not work if they are the older ones? Which of the main suppliers are selling the zlkey blank universal? Will stick with u-2d sks or ultimate HD for the time being.
Mike at Vauxhall
In these of high precision engineering, it's a bit poor three different factories are suppling three slightly different cylinders.

Which of the main suppliers are selling the zlkey blank universal? Will stick with u-2d sks or ultimate HD for the time being. The older keyblanks may not work on some cylinders, but supply was ceased of these old blanks awhile ago. The new universal blank works in all the 1* UAP+ cylinders, as well as other cylinders such as the TL range and the 3* Kinetica range. The universal blank is available from http://tradelocks.co.uk/uap-universal-key-blank.html. I hope this helps. Mike at Vauxhall

That's a fairly low price for a genuine blank. Would be almost a crime not to stock it.

bumble
Hi yes I've got those slim ul2 in stock. I've just been to the customers house and tried a ya91 but cut from the nose not the collar and it works perfectly. The genuine UAP would not enter lock. And uap 1 not work either. Would be almost a crime not to stock it. I have a Tradelocks account and used to order these from them but when they had the problems with them I went back to DB. At that price I'll be ordering from them next time I need some!!

Mike at Vauxhall
Although I've been fairly successful with universal blanks, I've changed over to the genuine blanks. Not only do I feel I'm pre-empting any further issues that may arise, but also you can charge more for genuine blanks.

I never charge more for genuine blanks, in fact sometimes genuines are cheaper than copies (Ultion and Abus Plus are 2 that i can think of) although a lot depends on your discount and i do get well looked after by the wholesalers. kobblers
CitySafe
We have removed the previous post as we would remove any post from anyone where libellous comments have been made against anyone. UAP sell now over 50,000 cylinders a month into the UK market, and have less than 1 in 10,000 faults as audited on their ISO9001 system. The UAP cylinders audited batch tested every 12 weeks as per their accreditation programmes. We are unsure where the information provided by the author of the post comes from as it is simply untrue and libellous. We will not condone anyone making malicious and unsubstantiated attacks on anyone on this forum. If we notice any deliberately malicious or libellous comments against any company then that member will be instantly banned. kobblers, SteelCityShoes and grahamparker
