Simes
I have had a difficult time trying to cut keys for a brand new 6 pin Yale Cylinder lock. Tried first using JMA YA-85D and they didn't work. Checked machine, cut a key to my shop door (I realise that doesn't mean a great deal but it worked). Then I re-cut them on Genuine Yale blanks. Still wouldn't work. Then I copied using the Futura. Nope! Given the chap his money back. Had no other keys back for ages except today some padlock keys (cut about 30 keys for different locks for the same customer all good. 4 came back and cut them on the Futura and they worked a treat. So, mystified why I can't cut for this particular Yale lock. Should say, I cut quite a few of these Yale lock keys without a problem and the customer is a regular and pretty sure he's not the problem! Anyone else struggled with them? grahamparker
Sounds like the new parented Yale with the tapered shoulder or it the lock is fitted in a security escutcheon or handles and you need to grind or file away the back shoulder. SteelCityShoes
I once had a customer with an awkward key. No matter what I tried I couldn't get it to work. After exhausting every option I jokingly said "Does your key even work?" "Not anymore, why, does that matter?" Was the reply. StevenB
I've found that occasionally, and for no obvious reason, clamping the keys in the groove rather than on the bottom works. It was also on a brand new Yale lock - YAX5 I think - that I discovered this. kobblers
