completelocks
Bit of help if ya can.... Citroen Xsara Picasso on a 55 plate. Replacing the remote (only the remote). Trying to sync it, and getting nothing. The big MVP 'bible' saysignition onhold lock button for 10 secondsrelease button ignition off wait 10 seconds then try.Tried that, nothing happened.Read the same thing somewhere else but for 5 seconds. They guys hand book simply says key in, ignition on, press lock button once then ignition off and its done.None of these work. Anyone throw any light on this for me? grahamparker
Did you try with the engine running ?. if so try without (all lights on). Can sometimes take a couple of minutes before it works after you have finished trying. Not unusual for French Crap.
ponsaloti
remote is paired to chip. are you trying to programme in a second hand remote by any chance ? Simes and Kris Polan
rapidlocks
as has been said , remote board and chip are paired together , you cant use a new or 2nd hand board with an existing chip , you will need a complete new remote and chip thats paired together

rapidlocks
as has been said , you cant just replace a remote board , it must be a new virgin key , complete with transponder chip and paired remote board as they come married to each other and remote only works with its paired chip . also always ensure you have the correct remote key as 2 different remotes on these , use the wrong one and chip will code in but remote will not. completelocks
Alphamax
Rapidlocks how do You know the difference ? as this happened to me also I done a Berlingo which wouldn't even programme the transponder , whenever I read the transponder if was coming up as locked . Thanks
completelocks
Rapidlocks is right. I'd never been asked just to do the remote before. Put a new chip in it, programmed it then synced the remote. They have to be done together. After they have been programmed, the remote can be re synced if it forgets, battery changed or whatever. Alphamax. 3d parts checker on your phone. Enter the reg and it tells you which remote to order.

Thanks i log in to citroen site , enter vehicles vin and get the exact part for the vehicle , this allows me to quote on and use the correct part every time and also confirms with berlingo etc if the vehicle was fitted with remote central locking or not . your initial post " Citroen Xsara Picasso on a 55 plate. Replacing the remote (only the remote). Trying to sync it, and getting nothing. The big MVP 'bible' says " suggests that you was trying to replace the remote only on this , ie not the chip , which as has been mentioned you cannot do as must be paired . Alphamax
Hi Rapidlocks , no it was the both items , the chip is on the board ? Well it says it is . Saying that I know the car in question had the chip separate .
Alphamax
Just an update on the post , the genuine key programmed no problem into the Picasso , remote works also no problem , the aftermarket keys are definitely an issue , seems to be on non can vehicles only .
