Paris Attack

Recommended Posts

During remembrance day I was annoyed that during the 2 minutes silence the girls next door in the beauty shop where chatting & laughing away with little respect. I came to the conclusion that, that was the very freedom that those who've lost their lives in wars where fighting for. But what is it with this world when we treat each other with such aggression, its something thats beyond my comprehension.

I've just seen footage of those fleeing the concert hall last night, people hanging on the outside of the building whilst others where dragging & aiding injured people. it put the fear of the situation right out into the media like no other footage. I just don't understand the world sometimes. Its sad, I feel low.

Well they are putting the TERROR into TERRORIST - do we keep away from places that may hold a threat or do we go about our day.

In my mind here in the UK we no longer have armed Police - In Paris every cop has a gun and every car has rifles. They responded and ended the attack early by causing them to commit suicide and the last was shot

Here the nearest armed response unit could well be in the next county putting in a door of a cannabis factory - so if they have bullets, grenades and the will they could kill everyone in a town before the ARV gets onto the nearest motorway and then picks its way into town.

IT IS TIME WE BRITS STOOD UP AND DEMANDED MORE ARV's

Mind you David Cameron is safe he has an armed copper....

See you know naffall- I was a councillor and a request stated that the 3 forces suffolk, norfolk and cambridge would share resources. How does a police Motorcycle carry his bullet proof gear and helmet then not the same as driving gear. I think you may have been reading too many propaganda leaflets. In an ARV they carry protective gear that are not standard issue anti stab vests but proper bullet resistant vests, and automatic rifles - a pistol is of no use in an armed siege situation.

Recently an ARV took 50 mins to arrive. In suffolk we have two Safer neighbourhood officers to cover 28 villages. Local authorities are being advised by UK.GOV to strengthen volunteer units in emergency planning with cutback expect less Police

In stoke I could imagine they are needed but here in the sticks we don't count

Yes Paris is a real downer, but it is meant to be, we are approaching our religious festival and they mean to make us all afraid -As for armed Police I suspect any major town has the capability, they have the money but in the country we are spread wide and the money is not here to provide the service.

What is needed is eyes everywhere - These people are amongst us. Lets not let it happen again here.

I concur Lee. I worry about the world my grandchildren are growing up in.

I can hit a standard size orange at 50m with a Army issue sidearm (same as police issue), the short sight base limiting accuracy much beyond this point.

Warren, If ever I feel under attack from terrorists armed with standard size oranges you'll be the person I phone first................
