An326
answer from Silca This issue is caused by the Volvo immobilizer system which requires an extremely long period of time (in certain cases even more than an hour) tosend data to and from the immobilizer unit, therefore this happens when you first turn the ignition lock with theM-SNOOP with the first LED flashing, up until the immobilizer does not update its data, with each turning of the ignition lock lighting up only the first LED.Unfortunately there is not much we can do if the system requires that one must actually need to wait around an hour if not more between eachacquisition:This is how the system should work:1. Start the engine of the vehicle using the original key coupled to SNOOP (the first LED will blink)2. Stop the engine3. Turn on the instrument panel with a key Silca without transponder (and without SNOOP)4. Wait at least 1 hour5. Start the engine of the vehicle using the original key coupled to SNOOP (the second LED should blink, blink if you do not wait a few minutes andtry again)6. Turn off the engine7. Turn on the instrument panel with a key Silca without transponder (and without SNOOP)8. Wait at least 1 hour9. Start the engine of the vehicle using the original key coupled to SNOOP (both LEDs should blink, blink if you wait a few minutes and try again)10. If you are successful in acquiring the three snorted, proceed with the normal copy flowNOTE: in the meantime (so for a bit 'more than 2 hours) the SNOOP will not be used to make a copy of the other vehicle keys or it will be reset (the customer will re-start from the beginning).Another procedure that I have seen work on another vehicle (not a VOLVO) on which the first LED on the M-Snoop kept lighting up only was the following:1. Turn the ignition using the original key coupled to SNOOP (the first LED will blink)2. Switch off the ignition, remove the key from the ignition, do away the antenna of SNOOP from the original key3. switching on and off the instrument panel for 10-15 times with the original key without SNOOP (1/2 second ON - 1/2 second OFF)4. Turn the ignition using the original key coupled to SNOOP (the second LED will blink)5. Switch off the ignition, remove the key from the ignition, do away the antenna of SNOOP from the original key6. switching on and off the instrument panel for 10-15 times with the original key without SNOOP (1/2 second ON - 1/2 second OFF)7. Turn the ignition using the original key coupled to SNOOP (the two LEDs blink)8. If you are successful in acquiring the three snorted, proceed with the normal copy flow

St.Am92
Regarding volvo keys, it seems keyline as well as silca have problems with cloning due to the cars immobiliser system. With this in mind and the time required to do these, what are you charging for these against 'normal'id48.

k4mrc
shop down the road from us is £25 There are some Moron's about this is a desparate price with no room for any mistakes or any consideration of the time that could be spent doing the key etc Autotechnix and mrkeys

Andy G7
We charge £60 to clone anything other than ID33, them they can have at £30. VW charge £130 for a standard transponder key non-remote. So why do the key for £30-40? I know some will have to compete with lower prices due to the competition in your area, but I still don't understand people or business's that don't want to make money? By this I am not saying "YOU" personally but maybe your competition thats driving the price down in your area for you. simong
I agree this is desperate price In the Bournemouth area there is so many locksmith ,key cutters, engravers ,auto guys than any ware else in the country per square mile another eg medal, ribbon and engraving £1 diagnostic key £35 pound vauxhall ,basic cylinder keys £4 or 3 for a £10, shoe repairs are better and our overseas operation is a lot different

If your competition is charging £35-40 then you have to follow suit otherwise you won't get any work at all. We seem to have a lot of Joiners/UPVC guys who are all becoming locksmiths locally and that is why i don't even bother with much call out work anymore. Someone quoted £30.00 last week to change 2 euro cylinders on the same property it's not even worth getting in my van for that.

That's what I mean, I feel for those of you that has competition that do not value the investment, and are happy to make lower profit compared to what the dealers charge. Simes
Graham is correct but this is what is happening and if you do not follow suit you get not work at all I'd rather have no work (of that sort) than do it for nothing (no profit). It becomes pointless! I'm not the cheapest locally but I still get a lot of business (probably the larger share). Find other ways to add value, become the "specialist" and people will pay more. jacko
I had a Polish guy drill out a Bird rim cylinder didn't have a replacement told the client it was a special and he would have to order it, and charged £20 for the opening and they couldn't get hold of him for a week so they called me. How can you compete with that.

How can you compete with that. Ohh sweet jesus. That's just f%(ked. You can't compete. And don't. All you can do is give the absolute best service you can and reinforce to them of the consequences of paying someone for something that is "too good to be true." Good luck to you all.
