Outsole stitcher / blake stitching machine

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

So I started a shop about 11 months ago and from time to time I get requests for stitched leather soles...

From my limited knowledge, one of these machines will cost about 10k?  Is there an alternative cheaper machine?  I currently bring these jobs to another repairer but I would like to do them myself if i can find a cost effective way...

Cheers

Cheers for the replies...  I know its only a couple of pairs at the minute but i reckon i could do more up-selling if i could do it in-house...  At present it's a 20 mile round journey to get them done so I would normally steer any undecided customers away from stitching.  I will check out this Junker & Ruh.

You can buy old machines for peanuts but expect many hours fiddling with them along with the understanding when an old machine breaks some engineering skill will be required put them right.

I brought a blake for £100 twenty years ago and its done some serious work as I stitch on soles for a designer who sends me boxes of shoe! I also spent a fortune on an outsole stitcher from one of our sponsors and have never regretted that either.

I also self taught myself to use both, so if you're not in a position to invest new yet. Dont put the investment off either the sooner you get something the sooner you build your reputation.

Hi Lee,

Yea, I really just want to get something to get stuck in and get some practice.  The shop is gradually getting busier so I want to try and offer the service in-house.

I have come across a gritzner hand operated outsole stitcher for approx. 350 - 400.  Does this sound like a decent deal?

Or if there is anyone in N Ireland with any other options feel free to post.

Best machine which you used to be able to pick up cheap was the Standard No. 7 shame standard won't do any parts for them.

Do you mean the 'Victor 75' ?  As there is no No 7 to my knowledge?  If so, we do and always have sold consumable parts for the Victor Outsole machine. These do come up cheap on e-Bay from time to time but are usually knackered and need work to get them stitching properly.

Hello Everyone,

I put this advert on Ebay before I found this Web page.

My father in law passed away this year and has let all this lovely history. I wondered if anyone would be interested.  Please follow the Ebay link below

History in the making. We would love this to go to a good use for someone either in a museum or be used again in the cobbler trade.

There are so many tools and machinery from my father in laws cobbler business he had in Manchester for many years.

We have tried museum's without success but still live in hope.

We would love them to go to a business who will use them. We are happy to have a one day if we get lots of interest.

We would love to see his past tools and machinery move on to a new home that will be cherished long into the future.

The location is Ashton Under Lyne

All enquiries welcome.

Please note, offers are welcome. Monies may well go to charity, but this is really for the brothers to decide. We do not want items to go to scrap but cherished well into the future.
