Peter@CopyCut
Ok, so I'm after a basic setup for key cutting, nothing fancy just as they advertise 90% of the keys on the market. I have visited few websites, it seems that most are stuck in 90's and everyone wants me to register to see the prices. I really can't be bothered to waste my time for this nonsense. So I have picked two which I will register with and see. Which are SKS and Davenport Burgess. As I only have time over the weekend I will register today and see who will get back to me first. Is there anyone else who offers the complete solution, that I should look at? Basically I want few boards with keys and one key cutting machine to cut cylinder and mortice locks. Thanks, Peter
Count Muppet
Dual key cutting machines are often for sale on here, as are keyboards full of keys. Look on gumtree there are often some full setups on there

Peter@CopyCut
"I really can't be bothered to waste my time for this nonsense" m8??? seriously ??? It's 2015! When I bought my mini lab equipment I went online and ordered everything without any stupid registrations to see the pricing. I even ordered our CNC mill this way. Why would I waste my time for this??? But this is not my problem, they must be loosing lots of customers who buy online today which is 99%. There was a guy who sold key cutting machines on Amazon, I was late he sold all 200 he imported from Germany in 3 weeks.

MarkD
Why would you want the public to be able to see trade prices? The suppliers you are talking about only deal with trade sales so they are not missing out on anything by not allowing joe public to window shop. If you are happy to pay retail prices then don't bother, I really can't understand your problem with it. I can see all of those grandmothers looking to check trade prices for key blanks and cutting machines before they have it done. And by the way they can do this for last 15 years on ebay and amazon. You sell a service not a blank. Like I said not my problem, I'll spend money where it's easier and faster. Time cost me more than anything. I'm happy that the topic has proven popular but still waiting for the answer to my question.

Auto Key Wizard
I can see all of those grandmothers looking to check trade prices for key blanks and cutting machines....You sell a service not a blank. Exactly...Does it really matter that the public see trade prices? 'Oh, the blank only costs 20 pence + VAT, Humm, but the equipment to cut it so it fits the lock is over £2000 + VAT,....I'll pop down to the local key shop I think' but still waiting for the answer to my question. I'll answer buddy: SKS or Davenport Burgess are a good choice, also consider https://www.aldridgesecurity.co.uk I would recommend the following Cylinder/Mortice machines Silca Bravo Professional and Silca Lancer Plus or on a lower budget Silca Rekord and Silca Fastbit I or II Check out everything Silca here http://www.silca.biz/en/products/key-replacement-business/121996/mechanical-key-cutting-machines.html Another good mortice machine would be Jakey MkII
Lee
All suppliers will offer key boards and systems to suit their ranges. Duel machines are always limited and will have short comings. theres horses for courses. I trust my rep from Davenports 110% on which machines to buy. He has never sold me a machine ive regretted buying. Even making me spend less that I'd budgeted in the past. I think the worlds become blurred on pricing. You'll never find out how much tesco pays for a keyring and thats the way it should be imo

Auto Key Wizard
As a basic setup the SKS Cyclone Dual Key Machine will suffice then.
Count Muppet
Only real issue with dual machines is that if it stops working for whatever reason, you can't cut any keys at all.
Auto Key Wizard
Tel, let him get on with it mate, he knows more than us. Humm, maybe he does, I thought after 35 years in the industry I was one of the most knowledgeable
Peter@CopyCut
Hey, no need to get agitated. Like I said "For me there is no advantage to have two separate machines". Key cutting will never be the main area of my business, it's just an addition. Something extra to offer the customer. If it stops working so be it, go across the road or to any of four timpsons in the area
Craig Gardner
For me there is no advantage to me to have two separate machines. So how are you going to do the ward an bullet cuts on the mortice keys Craig grahamparker and Simes
grahamparker
Excellent point Craig, had 4 keys with bullit wards in on saturday. Seperate machines are always the best if you have the space and usually the only people who have duel machines are working in limited space or from a van.
