Hi Paul

Mark had found and ordered some 'chap' elastic from Abbey Saddlery by the time I read your message, sorry. Just got to hope that the customer, who wouldn't accept 'no' for an answer is pleased with the result. A pair of blue suede boots that were far too tight around the calf and only had an ankle zip, now have full length zips and a tapered gusset that measures 60mm across the top. And Mark is worried that she won't want to pay £60 for them. ](*,)

I have often suggested that we should take money upfront for this type of job, but as Paul will concur, Mark is just too nice sometimes. As it happens, the customer did come and collect them this morning, though she didn't even bat an eye at £60 which just goes to show that it was too cheap. But after 30 years of charging too little for his skills, I don't think he's going to change his ways now.

Well he should! ... Our skills should not be devalued by charging too little for difficult jobs that the likes of T's won't take on... Although this is not quite the same I had a customer in on Saturday.. Simple job.. Gents leather soles.. I charged £24.50. T's wanted £40.00 and they would have to send them away because the toe was too pointed.. :smt102 :smt102 and they would be 2 weeks.. I did them same day... Funny how customers always tell you how much the opposition would charge after you quote them.. :)
