holly12345
Yes but when purchasing one of these machines, Does it warn you or not? If not then its no fault of hes really is it, unless it states it in the instruction manual. I just think if no one wants to help then don't answer just let the guys who do answer! shoemender1
I admire anybody spending your amount of money, I for one would not as I could never recoup it, I have trouble getting what I charge to copy a car key how you make it pay I don't know. Your expertise is greater than mine on car keys is a given. I just glad us shoe repairers are not as angry and unhelpful as your trade seems to be, i have invested thousands of pounds in what I do, BUT would still help anybody I could out of Doo Doo's, if I could not then I would not post negative comment's, rather than that I believe not to comment would have been better. Surely it would have been someone in your trades interest to ask him where he is located, so if he needed anybody in the future to give a call to, then you have another customer. I will search to find a Auto locksmith around my area to whom I will be giving a call soon asking if I need help in the future would they be interested in coming out to , also to pass any keys that I cannot do onto as I know my equipment limitations. That is something I had not thought of before so something good(hopefully)will come out from this topic. Tried to find a Auto locksmith in the link given with unlimited distance and not one came up.

hibsjo(SCO)
im a cobbler who diversified into autolocksmithing 12 years ago i too have spent thousands on kit and sell tins of polish! i charge as much as the dealers for my services as i offer a service, they dont. thats how i make my money. to lump us all in the same bracket is unfair. one of the best lockies out there is a shoe repairer so go figure, everyone ill bet has his no. for when they are in the shit! so the question was asked on a shoe repair forum which is rich in members from all walks of life and in a roundabout way the question has been answered sounds like the atuo brigade are just as grumpy as us shoerepairs are known to be lol its all a learning curve everyone will make a mistake thats how we all learn even ive had a return to dealer situation then i bought AVDI if you cant say anything constructive dont say it! carry on! x minit uk
The reason the Auto bods get shirty is that we can do the job correctly, we can do this because we spend many thousands of pounds on kit and many hours learning to use it, we then have to get ourselves out of the shit when we get into it. We have to try to pay for the kit we have spent loads on, I had close on £30,000 stolen and I still have well over £10,000 of stuff to keep me going until the insurance pay me out. Having spent a good £40,000 at least on kit I then have to contend with customers telling me I am too expensive because when they bought some shoe polish the bloke in the cobblers offered a spare key for £25. £40,000 takes some paying back at £12 profit after expenses and tax. By all means ask for help, but realise that the help is not being asked of the other "clone it and hope for the best" crew, help is being asked of those of us who have a bit more time and effort under our belts and we may be a bit shirty. The answer as the thread has stated, is. Avoid cloning ID46 where possible, code the keys/remotes into the car.that there is a good chance that something will go wrong, especially on French cars. Have a backup plan when something goes wrong. The good advice was leave the tricky stuff to the guys who have all the gear and some idea, the better advice would be to do a lot more research about your own, and your equipments capabilitys before you cock up, and have a plan for when you do. Make the acquaintance of an understanding Auto Locksmith and ask for some advice from the guy who will be rectifying your mistakes when they occur as we all make mistakes, oh, suppliers will mislead you about the kit they sell, do not rely on their information, learn for yourself. Advertising CHEAP key cutting and we cut ebay keys for £5 on your website wont help re-coup your 40k will it.

rapidlocks
Pinky, are you a shoe mender? I am a miserable bastard, we all know that. No malice intended. Lee wrote an article some years ago detailing the level of research he did into car keys, well written and shows willing to learn for himself. I believe that Lee is a good example of how to diversify the right way. Nope never mended a shoe in my life and i doubt i ever will . i dont work from a shop so rarely ever clone a key , in fact its many years since ive cloned a key with the zedbull and it will no doubt be many more before i do again , i prefer plugging in and programming always have and always will. why ask if im a shoe mender ? decker
Lots of members keep stating that the threads origionator asked a question. The only question he asked was, how much the tow truck would cost him. Neither Auto locky or shoe repairer has answered the question, because nobody could possibly know what the answer was. The Auto locky and cloner / key cutter relationship can work very well. I get on very well with a guy a mile down the road from me. He doesnt touch lost key jobs and most spare key jobs i give to him. We have a verbal gentlemans agreement. On 3 or 4 occasions I have helped him out when the customer goes in for a spare key and ends up with no working key at all. I dont charge him for helping out and all in all its a good relationship. I have a cobbler shop and am a mobile Auto locksmith. Interestingly I purchased a Silca RW4 Plus in October 2013 complete with all MH Blades and inserts, plus GTI transponders. The RW4 was purchased for the shop to cover any vehicle key jobs that were required while I was out on the road. So far not one key has needed to be produced on it,

Gray
Here's my opinion for what it's worth......I bought a Keycrypt pro (AD900)....Customers would not pay the measly price I was asking to clone keys and things where moving on at such a pace I decided to pack it in and sell my equipment....I personally think you have to go into the car thing properly....Know what you are doing, get trained and spend thousands of pounds on the right equipment....no half arsed attempt, all out or nothing or you will make mistakes and it will cost you....I don't do car keys any more and I sleep well with no worries...
