Thorpes
Ok so we are gearing up to move into watch battery replacement , We have identified an area of the shop where we can create a clean space to do it. We are compiling a shopping list of tools etc that we will need and beginning to look at suppliers. Hopefully we can make more progress on these at the Cutting Edge show this weekend and we have read the advice and tutorials available . BUT one thing that we are uncertain about though is whether we will need to this on a while the customer waits basis or if customers generally are willing to call back later for their watches. So any feedback from people with experience would be much appreciated.

grahamparker
Nearly all our customers want to wait, in fact i cannot remember the last customer who wanted to leave a watch.
Lee
90% of my customers leave the watch & come back. But I'm not your average location. However my advice would be this... for the first few months at least try to get 1/2 an hour where possible. like everything it takes some getting used to & a reputation can be seriously damaged if you look amateur in your approach. the extra time will get you experience with the difficult ones. If you break anything or want repairs other than batteries, like movements, glass, servicing I offer a trade service for this. Lee

Danny King
90% want it done while they wait. Only time I ask them for more time is when they bring a bag of watches in. Lee is your man for trade work

Thorpes
Thanks guys for the advice and info, I think we will plan on getting people to come back, especially at the beginning, but learn to live with the fact that this is not going to work every time
