ai 9 to ai 7

My Vistool & Coral Draw programs are both 7 years old, and don’t want to know about .ai version 9 files. Both good programs not to just discard with the cost involved, just to get .ai 7 files.

 

There has to be many ways to do what I wanted, but if it helps anyone this is a cost free way I got around it. With the free program Foxit PDF Reader, a superior reader for more than just it’s save abilities.

 

Take the .ai 9 file called say V9 logo.ai and literally alter the extension from .ai to .pdf.

To V9 logo.pdf (I made a copy of the original, just in case.)

 

Open V9 logo.pdf in Foxit – and save as say Foxit logo.pdf

 

Import to Coral Draw (or any suitable program) and save as say Coral logo.ai which in my Coral Draw 12 is a version 7 .ai as required.
