kobblers
I've cut quite a number of EU1R's to code recently. The keys are opening/closing the lock but they are terribly stiff to remove. Can anyone advise on what the problem may be? Thanks. Rick

slippy
A good wire brush or a file on the angle of the cuts should do it
grahamparker
Have you tried fitting a new cutter on your machine Rick ?.This could be the main cause. You will sometimes find that originals can be exactly the same on this particular lock. We always struggled with depth keys for these and one of our main reasons for investing in the unocode 399.But even that has problems cutting these keys when the cutter is starting to blunt. Most of the locks will be used on lockers and are usually in very dry areas,we sell the Abus PS88 spray or the Kaba lock oil and a little squirt of these in the lock makes a massive ammount of difference. We sell about 5 tins a week on average to schools/leisure centres and hospital and they all come back for more. Don't use WD40 as it can dry tacky and causes the wafers to stick even more.
Iain
Thanks for the replies folks. We've used two different suppliers for the blanks so don't think that's the issue. I've fitted a new cutter this week so that may make a difference. Maybe I can give them all an extra smoothing on the nylon brush too. Graham, where can I get the Abus spray from? I will try it and see if that also makes a difference. Thanks again. Iain
kobblers
Is it PTFE spray Graham? I used to use PTFE on my machines when I had 'em in my garage. It's good stuff, protector and lubricant, It prolongs cutter life in woodworking too, Dunno if it's the same when cutting metal though as I've never tried it Rick.
