Count Muppet
I love the look of the bottles engraved, looks really good with the buff stuff. I would have no idea how to clamp one without putting too much pressure on it on my is200tx. Sounds like I'm not the only one that would like to see how you manage it so well. Tutorial? ironplanet uk900
simple, put the bottom of the bottle in the motorised end, you'll have no probs then
Count Muppet
Would the neck be strong enough without support then? If so I will have a play with it on Monday, I'm gonna look out for the buff aswell
ironplanet uk900
Well surley a wine bottle is alot stronger than a wine glass!! and we engrave heaps of those without any probs.
keithm
Just a little feedback. The Company my son works for is already having this service done by a guy opposite their warehouse, but thanks for the help guy's. As far a Gravo is concerned, the only reason I can think of to NOT engrave a Champers bottle would be if you were using a laser which may effect the content and therefore cause it to explode? But I'm no expert

stevecoco
Have seen Gravograph laser engraving champagne bottles no problems.
Satiusreesadimus
Technically you should not engrave a champagne bottle and I would not think any engraving machine suplier would sell their machine as being suitable for such a process. You have a positive pressure inside the bottle and you could get stress fractures migrating from your engraving. If you think about it a sheet of glass is pretty strong until you score it with a point and then it snaps quite easily.
keithm
I agree, just because you can, doesn't mean to say you should !
key cabin
Hi Andy, looked at this thread and had a go at it myself, i engraved a sample to put in my display cabinet, after only half an hour i had got 4 orders for engraving of wine bottles. Aparentley M&S do this service but it costs over £15, the engraving is not as good and it takes a week for the item to be returned. Cheers Andy =D> =D> =D>
