Should I buy a dimple key code-machine?

Recommended Posts

At the Telford show last weekend, Silca showed off this £80K machine mentioned here previously - beautiful piece of kit!

They also showcased the Triax e-code, around £12'500 plus VAT. It replaces the regular Triax, which they no longer sell.

Would anyone in the know kindly forward a few thoughts on these dimple code-machines?

We don't have any demand for copying dimple keys, and only some for cutting them to code (for example, annualised about 240 Cisa Astral keys).

Would anyone know where to get a second hand dimple code machine? To amortise £12'500 within a reasonable time span seems a tall order.

I bought my triax-e-code about 5 years ago and got a great price through aldridges with a few jaws and cutters

thrown into the price.

It was one of the best machines we have ever bought and is used on a daily basis.

It has cut well over 5000 keys and we cut all the local Kia/Ford dealers and importers keys for them.I have just bought

the mul-t-lock cutters to allow us to cut them as well as Cisa Astral S,Abus and other dimple manufacturers as well

as lowe and fletcher radial keys.

It has only ever snapped 2 cutters and they where on chinese import replacement key cases for fiat, other than that it

has been rock solid and never let us down.I also have the unocode 399 and again have had no issues with that machine either and that has cut over 60,000 keys in the 10 years i have owned that.

It is worth checking the price as i now Aldridges where offering a discount on computerised machines so you may

get a better price.Silca make the greatest key machines and although there are cheaper machines in the market

you really do get what you pay for.

Ours was paid for within the first 2 years, but i only paid about £8500 approx with extra jaws and cutters.
