the reason for asking is i had a customer in the other day who had some sos put on by large multiple and she hated them!

they were too thick for the type of shoe.

I told her to be fair to the firm in question they couldnt really put anything finer on because the ware would be poor for price paid.

so thats the reason i ask the question

carry on!

Cant be a simple answer to that one hibs, those with expertise will gauge the thickness left on the original sole and put a S-O-S of suitable thickness,Possibly thinning down the edges so it dont look to thick and balancing with the centre of the sole.

On a personal note... anything more than 2mm is replacement sole thickness on a ladies shoe, though this depends on the type of footwear, as I said no simple answer.

Some operators are geared for profit and individual bonus, the way high street trading is going perhaps they are taking as much as they can while they can. Swings & roundabouts hibs, one jumps on and sees how long one can stay on in that situation.

I prefer the 1.5mm thickness and am a lifelong fan of Topy.Quality is more important than thickness as long as it blends in with the style of shoe.

Not only do I carry different thickness' but more importantly different finishes. A fine mesh pattern for a fine shoe, maybe a ribbed pattern for a heavier working shoe. the mould & the finish it gives is often more important than thickness to me.

Thanks Robin for the sample have put on customers shoes to trial for me(good pr)

carry on!

Spot on PR work there Joe, ensures customers come back just to tell you how the things are wearing, plus you have a customer for life.

I aslo used this trick when I put on something of dubious quality, then whe you had to replace it the customer thought it was all part of the plan.
