Forest Cobbler
Hi, Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I would like to be able to download engravable images from the download section, but am failing miserably. Lee has tried really hard to help, but I still can't actually open anything. I click on the name of the image that I'm interested in and another box comes up that has a 'download file' icon in it. When I left click on that I get a box in the bottom left of the screen (this seems to be a windows 7 thing), with the name of the file in it, if I then left click on this box I either get a message saying that the computer doesn't know what programme to open it with, or it will say that it can't open it in paint. If I right click on the download icon I get two 'save as' options, one is 'save image' the other 'save link'. I have tried both, either way the computer then wants me to change my default browser to Outlook Express, but even if I do I still can't seem to get at the image. I have looked at the download file in the picture library on the computer to see if I could import the image into the engraving program, but although an icon for each one is there, I can't do anything with it. We are running Windows 7, with Google Chrome as our browser and the engraving program is Vistool 8. Thanks, Valerie
petercoulson
Dont understand, outlook express isnt a browser so shouldnt ask this. what browser are you using? if you use firefox it should automatically download the file to a folder (usually downloads in my documents) or right clicking the link you can save. once downloaded you should use the engraving program to import the file rather than open it. Lee
As far as I've made out so far, Valerie is getting it onto the third party computer, but isn't able to view or import it into Vistool. Since I don't have this its one for the VISTOOLS Tools usergroup! About time you all got some decent software, then you wouldn't have these problems Lee
Forest Cobbler
Sorry, meant Internet Explorer, not Outlook Express. V
Gray
Ok V. here comes a how to do it! In SRF Click on the file you want from downloads then click download file don't try and open it. Go to your start button in Windows 7 Go to documents Go to downloads, the file will be in there, I like to drag it to the desktop and leave it there. From Vistool 8 ..File, import, Look in desktop, find the file and double click. You will then get a box Auto connect click yes you will get two crossed lines, click on the screen and your logo will appear as if by magic. Hope this is simple enough rlj

StevenB
Vistool sucks , you dont get theses type of questions with grovostyle \:D/ What's wrong with asking for help. Isn't that what the forum is all about? The debate as to which software is better will run & run. We all have our own preference, and that's fine. The world would be a dull place indeed if we all did the same thing.
Gray
Is that right Gav? Try typing Gravostyle into the forum search, plenty of reading there for you old son.
Forest Cobbler
Thank you rlj. That works a treat. Simple instructions in words of one syllable are exactly what are needed sometimes. =D> And Lee, thanks for all your help. Actually I think I already have decent software, it's the brain that fails.
