planet has a new charity that he and some buddies are raising money for

these guys are spending a s**t load of their own money on bikes, training, flights, hotels and speedos

they are training more hours for ironman than some people work in a week

i will be continuing to vectorise logos for a donation to planets new charity

if you have not donated yet for logos done by me, please give to this new charity as soon as possible

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fireirons

follow these 10 simple steps to warm fuzzyness

1. customer asks "can you do a logo on that?"

2. you reply "yes I can, that will cost (enter amount here) and £5 of that cost will go to charity (enter conversation about ironman here)

3. customer says "oh thats fabulous, please can i have a logo then?"

4. you say "yes you can"

5. post on forum "logo needed" followed by details of said logo

6. andy replies "go get :smt079 "

7. you say "thanks andy, donation has been made"

8. you do what you need to do with the logo

9. customer swoons at your wonderous work

10. everyone is happy

I detect an air of distain proporting to the amount I have donated to charity for the work Andy carried out. So, for those that have an issue with it, please read below.

I asked Andy to convert some jpeg images to an EPS format for embroidery.

Unlike most of you engravers, the work I asked Andy to carry out was for a non profit making excercise. You guy's can pass on the cost of that fee/donation as the cost of the engraved item. Invariably, the customer makes the donation from the profit on the job, not you.

The work carried out was completed in 10 minutes, I balanced what I thought was a reasonable fee for a reasonable period of time, against a donation for charity, £20 was my choice for 10 minutes work. That equates to £120 per hour, reasonable surely for Andy's skills whether done in bulk or not?

I have made many donations to the Forum and Planets charity and will continue to do so when I see fit and for whatever amount I choose, my choice. If my donation is not rich enough for your services, then decline to do what's asked, your choice

If Andy or anyone else has any further issues with this topic, then feel free to PM or call me.

Does it really matter if the work was for a non profit making excersise. Fact of the matter is you employed Andys skills and the going rate is £5 per logo to charity. I dare say you won't get anything done again.

Had I known the rate was £5 per logo, therefore £55, I would have paid the £25 fee offered by the embroidery company. They would have accepted the jpegs and converted them themselves, I thought the better spend was on Charity :?

I have not and will not discredit anything that Andy has done, he is now a timeserved member of this Forum and offers a great service to all. Obviously, there are certain expectations with regards to his services and we are all much clearer.

i know i'm fast but 10 mins is a total piss take, i mean really .....60 seconds per logo. #-o

The work carried out took 1 hour for the first batch of logo's some were re-drawn by hand some were straight forward

then it took a further 45 mins to re-do all the logo's again in colour

i don't give a shit any more
