k4mrc
My staff and I are having a little row on the time to do Zip Replacements, so the question to you all keeping work to a resonable or high standard, how much time to do a pair of 'lined' boots 12" in length? StevenB
I charge £2.75 per inch for zips, and work on needing to earn at least £30 per hour. Therefore, I would be looking at getting it done in no more than an hour. Hopefully I could do it quicker & move on to something else!
Guest Klazykobbler
I always say £25 quid whatever zip it is boot or bag and then ask for 10 ten days to do it if they really want it done they'll have it done. then I get the money
Gray
FFS 10 days????
ironplanet uk900
FFS 10 days???? To be fair, I have quoted 10 days before now, not often but have done. I don't think I have ever done a zip from start to finish without breaking off to do other things. If your staff are working continually most of the day and your prices are what you are happy with then you'll not got far wrong imo. Last week I took a pair of newboots in to adjust the leg fit, I told the customer about a week, bur took her number in case I managed it quicker, I did and called her, she was very happy. windycity
i always tell the customer 5-10 working days just to cover myself. I try to get them done as soon as poss as i hate doing zips . but always email or text them as soon as the jobs done. i had 6 in on saturday and have completed 4 of them and stripped the others out and always they have to pay in advance. x minit uk
I am lucky here because my wife loves doing all the patching work, including zips, with this being the case I can offer a next day or 2 day service. As for how long does it take, well to do a nice job which includes removing all the old stitches etc and cementing the new zip in first I would say a good hour. Michael
Try 12mm double sided tape, and cut the time it takes down further
