StevenB
I have a Jakey Mk2 Mortice machine, and have just discovered that it looks like it's about to break on me! The threaded rod that the key clamp attaches to has bent over the years, (which is why I can only now tighten it up a certain amount). See photos below. Is it possible to replace this part, or perhaps the swinging carriage which holds both key clamps? If not, and it's new machine time, what machine would you recommend as a replacement? This machine has served me well for the last 16 years, plus however long the previous owner used it for. Is there a better machine on the market? All thoughts welcome as ever! Lee
that looks like a standard stud threaded into the cast base, if you can undo it, you should be able to get a replacement from your local nut & bolt / fixings supplier. Failing that fothringham mortice machine is the dogs, ask Davenports, proper old school engineered machine not a casting on it, Lovely.................................................... I also have stud removel tools i can post one up to make the job easier and you can post it back when done. John

This screw is likely 5/16" BSW and has an overall diameter of 7.92mm, so M8 wasn't a bad guess.
StevenB
It looks like I'm sorted with SKS, replacements should be with me in the next few days, lets hope they're not too awkward to install!
