Guest john_d

does anyone know wehre i can get 1 cut?

i need a spare and have been quoted £45!

my parents have had a new door fitted so i'm left without a key, it would rarely get used hence why im not too keen to spend £45 on a key.

thanks in advance of any replies =D>

I would not cut this key blindly,i just let the person in question know i can cut these as i have

a triax-e-code machine and have been granted access to the cutting software which is locked unless you

are an authorised supplier.

For the last 20 odd years we have carried out the most stringent security for duplicating safe and

high security keys.

EVERY safe key must have a Proof of I.D. to duplicate and if the customer isn't the owner of

the safe/key/lock they must have written authorisation form the owner and I.D. to obtain the key,

(credit card, passport and so on) we then request them to fill out a disclaimer form

stating they are either the owner or are authorised by the owner to obtain the key we cut.

We then keep these which i have records of every safe key we have cut going back 20 years,in fact

there is half a filing cabinet full of them.

If the customer required a key then i would still request either the security card or the documents

with a supporting letter from his parents saying he could have this key cut.

I have an easi entrie machine which i use but i have NEVER tried to duplicate any restricted key

but have always used the correct procedure to obtain these keys usually going back to the supplier.

We still ask for letters of authorisation for yale, union, assa, abloy, evva, ankerslot keys which other

key cutters near us just cut without any problems.

Most of our customers like the fact we are the only company local who do this and that is why we do so many.

I have never been a member of the MLA but have a lot of friends in the key cutting industry and the MLA and

have always tried to operate to the highest code of conduct possible.

Thoughts are with you Gav, WTF if you wan't to save money fair enough but other members

where just being cautious in what they said and are very justified in that.

If any one joins the forum requesting a service im sure most members would help but not

at trade prices until the member has proved themselves.

I would always offer to cut a key (especially to code) as i have all the machinery at my disposal,

curently a silca unocdoe 399 and a triax-e-code with multiple jaws and cutters but if the key

required security procedures i would apply them member or not.

Hi John,

We get orders all the time for CISA keys with SM or MK in the code - as master locksmiths we refuse to cut them (even if we can decrypt the code) we will usually find out which locksmith owns the key code and forward their contact details.

Cisa Key Cutting

Must admit some of the property management companies seem to have fairly 'hit & miss' approach to ensuring their occupants/tenants don't get copies of master keys without any authority.... [-X

I appreciate this was an old post - but the problem is still there, especially with CISA Master key systems, we had two random master key cutting requests today for blocks of flats with 100+ private / rented properties.

Maybe turned out to be a burglar, served his time and now gets his 90% staff discount at timpson :-)

Rofl - seems Timpson's have a tough deal with Tesco's! We will have lot's of fun parking one of our vinyl wrapped key cutting van's in the car park for 2 hours right next to their kiosk..... our shop is round the corner 8)

The tesco expansion idea is creating a lot of unhappy, untrained workers. No one wants to work in them. They might be happy you turned up

Well we shall see how the deal unfolds with Tesco's - the last company I worked for (global multi £bn) where partners with Tesco's... the saying in that world is 'if you get into bed with Tesco's - you know you'll get f****d'

Same applies here with this story imo, get into bed with Tesco's and there is only one winner. The loser is the customer who wanted a key cutting for a fair price.

IE CISA Key cutting

^^ Sorry for a little spam but there is more to this story than meets the eye peeps!
