ive not got a pic as it was a customers only copy

like with squire snapsafe unless you use an original squire blank you will always get customers coming back saying they dont work as the universal key blanks are just slightly off camber

this was also confirmed by the squire rep, i had one customer in who who had been to 7 different key cutters wity the same problem. wasnt till he came to us and we gave him the original blank, he returned the day after and thanked me

and hence i said its UAP+ NOT UAP a new design by universal

The best blank for UAP standard 6 pin keys is ER6 Era.

However, the UAP is unusually wide in the blade and apparently there are keys

out there with a "no cut" pin, and these are the ones that give trouble.

We are looking at producing a suitable blank with a wider blade, but in the meantime,

using the fluting of the key and blank (rather than the back edge) to locate in the key machine,

may solve the problem.

the problem with the uap + is the height of the zero pin being higher than the YA17D blank and the U6D key blank both are the height naturally of a UAP+ No1 cut , the zero pin of which every lock has at least one in it is 0.42mm higher than the YA17D blank or so im told by the factory that makes them.

hope this helps

All UAP cylinders produced now have this 0 pin added , within the next 6 weeks all uap cylinders will be kitemarked as well as secure by design, both the budget and the UAP + locks will carry the kitemark, as they sell around 500,000 cylinders a year mostly into the upvc and door manufacturer market , these low cost kitemarked cylinders will be a very common lock especially in new builds, so may be worth getting a stock of blanks from them until a suitable blank is available cheaper .
