Lee
I've never considered them but following the elf & safety topic about fumes & the lateral thinking from Ted, it pricked my ears up! I don't even know whats available or what it can do! Lee
Corlas
I was talking with a disciple who was looking for this type of glues and she says me that one of the problems is than you need a lot of type of waterglues for different materials, and one person of my forum says that this water glue is used in mass production, but not good function, ever come unstucked. Lee
thanks chaps, looks like thats a don't go there then! Although if I could find just one good one, for say leather or rubber then it might be worth switching as good ones for each task become available? Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
I was involved in the trials of Water Based adhesives many years ago when the problems of H&S first arose, many variations were tested over a 2 year period. What was found was that if you had experience of Latex adhesives that we used before Polychloroprene adhesives cane onto the scene then you could adapt to the Water based ones quite easily. Very different techniques were required and once you have overcome all the problems associated with Water based glues then you will find them very satisfactory. There will always be problems with certain materials as there are with all the other glues but you get to know what it will and will not stick to. A much slower drying time is required, sometimes this can be an hour rather than minutes in extreme cases. Your job turnaround time has to reflect this. Be aware that you get through many more brushes as there is no solvent to soften ones that have gone hard. I used to make my own out of rope as we did with Latex (Copydex is a Latex Adhesive)
Corlas
Hola to all, Hug, thanks for your profesional answered Like ever, I'm lost in translation, but I understand that when you know waterglues, is posible to work with guarantee?. This would be a good new. And you say that was years ago when you were testing this glues, for this reason I think that is posible that now this glues are improved in this time. Thanks and Health! petercoulson
Perhaps there are better glues around now? One thing does puzzle me, with solvent based glues you use thinners to help remove them, with water based glues what happens when the shoes get wet? keithm
I'm going to Weisbaden, I'll have a chat with Renia and see if I can get some info from them. thats providing my BA flight leaves Heathrow Frankfurt Hahn is a 1 hour drive from Weisbaden, did it 3 years ago in the snow FRA (Frankfurt International) is where you need to get to and then use the Train. I've looked at many different options over the last few days and I believe Luftahansa at around £350pp is all thats left of alternative options Forget the Train form St Pancras, toooooooooooo expensive and takes ALL day

windycity
i hope that the aviation people don't yet use water based glue but the price of flights seems to resemble a drenching of waterbased products ya
