Guest phatjap
Hello, I don't suppose people use manual engraving machines any more...but basically I can't afford a CNC machine so I have to make do with a manual one for now. I bought it from Ebay and it is a a lovely solid old thing but it didn't come with a manual. Although I have got the basic idea and can engrave, I'm sure there are tecniques for measuring, enlarging and other aspects that would it a lot easier. Does any one know where I could get a copy? I tried Engravograph website email form, but didn't get a reply, but I'm guessing I didn't get a response because the form was more related to purchasing their products. I'm not too sure where to find the model number for it either, I can only find a seiral number.... Also i'm looking for fonts for it, plastic or otherwise - I've found some places that sell them but rather costly, 2nd user would be good. Any one have any ideas? Regards. Gray
As klazy said if you can post a picture it would be most helpful. When you say Engravograph do you mean Gravograph? These pantograph machines are quite simple really. I have a manual for a suregrave GX320 which is probably similar. Just make sure you have your ratio settings equal and you cant go far wrong. And welcome to the forum. Also i'm interested in what bike you are restoring.
Guest phatjap
Hi there, Thank you for your replies... The old bike I have actually replaced now, I'm beginning to wish I hadn't - but anyway, it was a Yamaha XZ 550 V twin. Super old thing with much charecter, immacualate and most thing were replaced except for a few items which I did myself- (hence the plating machine) it was a restoration that got 9/10's finnished and left for 15 years by the previous owner. Yes I mean Gravograph! This is the pic of the machine.... Regards.

ANDY
All pantographs work on the same principle say your brass lettering measures 200mm long and you want it to be 50mm on the job just divide 200 by 50 and you get your ratio of 4 have a good muck about on scraps to get the hang of things if you get stuck on anything, just post your question and we will guide you on the right path i see a set of script letters on ebay.... £25.00 at moment, worth a poke methinks
stevecoco
I know its not much help but I got rid of 10 sets of letters ablout 2 months ago, sold them all for £200. HOWEVER I do have the manual for the Gravograph Pantograph. I would like to keep it but I am prepared to scan it for you and then email it. Guest phatjap
Hello and thank you for your replies and useful tips. I would appreciate the scanned manual if you don't mind doing it at some stage.I'd be grateful. (Shame about the fonts going! - C'est la vie) I've also invested in a small, inexpensive DIY CNC machine - I still want to keep the manual machine though till I know what CNC is all about! I also intend to get a plotter cutter as I'm working my way to expanding a very small business - I will have lots of questions coming up and have a feeling I might be a frequent user soon enough! Kind regards.
