plt files in corel

Recommended Posts

can anybody shed some light on to why plt files looked through corel draw look so messy with jaggy edges?

i import the file in gift and it looks ok but just wondering what are those jaggy edges?

if you type text in corel draw and then export it as a plt file, then bring it back in corel and look closely .you will see what i mean.. :(

When you export it as a plt, there's an option in the advanced tab called curve resolution. Is this set at zero? It still gives slightly jagged edges at zero, but less than if you have something in there. It isn't as smooth as an eps export, but it may be worth a look. Seems strange that you can't get it completely smooth.

curve resolution set at .01..tried increasing it to no enhancement..went ahead and engraved it anyway and came out not bad. the larger you go on engraving size it seems to improve curves :D

just wondering if cs3 illustrator lets you export files to plt?

also 1.5mm brass ..what depth engraving is ideal for infilling with paint? and what is a better option ,,set the depth on software and have spindel sitting on zero or set spindle but leave software machining option to zero or low?

Hi hazeemz. I think the problem is that plt supports only straight lines, whereas eps supports lines, arcs and curves. Make sure your artwork is bigger than your final engraving and should be OK.
