Guest Marks world
how about this, theres another engraver near me who deals mostly in trophys (i dont), the other week i sent someone there to get a trophy plate done because i was out and he needed it quick, well the customer is the secetary of a golf club so he got more work of them aswell. Well tonight i needed a shield to donate to a show on sunday and he charged me full retail for it ! short memory or what, any other views?
Lee
Bit like the forum, a bit of give & take helps us all out! he may have a short memory, but gently remind him next time he needs your help! Lee
hakeemz
yes like lee said everyone deserves a second chance but even after reminder if he continues than i would charge full retail as well..
Guest Marks world
it is not the only job i have sent to him this year (must be at least 10-15 easy) one was for 19 darts trophies, he is far bettter equipped than me so he 's never had to ask for help, i did'nt expect a freebie maybe a little discount. ironplanet uk900
Bejond me why you should be sending work to the opposition to be honest.
hakeemz
as danny says in above scenario i would stock trophies myself rather than turning the business away

ironplanet uk900
Any engraving machine can cope with trophies....its just a case of running your business properly. I wouldn't lower myself to ask my competition for help....thats what helps you keep your eye on the ball.

Gray
I see from your other posts you have an IM3. I'm don't know why you don't stock a few basic trophies. Most trophies take a plate which you can do. As for larger cups you can supply new cups that need to be engraved on the body as all trophy suppliers will provide an engraving service which you can mark up. More profit & more money avaliable for you to upgrade your machine.
Guest Marks world
ok heres the good news i took on 14 trophy plates at a show today i would normally send these to him but there is no rush so i am doing them myself, heres the bad news wednesday going in for an op on my foot so i will be laid up for 2 weeks (on sticks for 4 weeks) so the firm i work for has taken this as a good time to make me redundant work is slow anyway, once this little storm is over i will start trying to build my little business up more as i can dedicate more time to it and more work is coming in so at the least i will try and get a gravograph itl manual or better still a puter machine
