Yup, must agree with the opening post here.. I had a similar expirence with these BUFFOONS... stuck up tart of a saleswoman at the springfair some years ago. Looking down her ageing powder overdosed nose at me, how presumptuous of her to think I was running a lower class of business than they are used to, my shops outsell our local jewellers and look smarter, and we do dogs b***ocks engraving service.

Why doesn't someone contact them in a nice way and ask them to change their policy. They may not be aware of the massive increase in engraving business through shoe repairers and how professional you have become over the last few years? :D

If you put a multiplier to the potential revenue through you guys the potential business could be huge! Come on Lee, get typing mate

Keith is right, I can understand a company with a good quality product, wanting it retailed in quality outlets....Not "Billies Cobblers" alot of us independants have evolved into quality service centres. But I believe the "cobbler shop" is a bit of a turn off for alot of quality gift suppliers.

Some of you will remember a thread a long time ago about what we call our business's, I'll try and find it.......................

But where does that leave you Danny. If you want the goods and more to the point, your customers demand the product, you should be doing all you can to supply it.

Dalvey might just need updating, as I have said, in how the shoe repair business has changed, it could be that they were simply unaware of a growing market that exists within the shoe repair trade. Their attitude does seem a little dismissive, but I wouldn't give up without a fight and prove them wrong, whilst satisfying your customers demands. It would only take them to supply 6 or so of you and they could find an untapped market. If it was me, I would want to be one of the first, as they have a good name in the market and their products pretty much sell themselves. They are also engravable, I have done many myself, a great opportunity if you ask me. :D

Dalvey, from memory, predominently supply the 'Jewellry' trade, you may find that their business has suffered over the last few years. With the demise of their watch battery revenue and general sales due to recession, Dalvey may have suffered as well, but are waiting for that trade to pick up. However, OUR trade has picked up in this area which could result in Dalvey improving their sales by dealing with us.

I take your point Keith, But take a walk round one of the gift/Jewellery shows and you will find plenty of suppliers willing to sell to you :D

Why should I try and talk round a supplier who thinks my shops arn't up to there so called standards.

If I remember correctly i'm the customer, So let them sell the goods to me.

Ok i'm guess i'm going to get it now

Do you mind if I punch you in the face Dan :D

Their product is good, If you have a market for it, its worth persisting sometimes, cus you know "Billies Dusty Cobblers" won't be selling it.

Ok you can Mark.......

But Billies Dusty Cobblers don't sell anything

Yes, thats exactley why Dalvy won't supply................ You wouldn't put a Rolex in a sundry bag would ya, So why put quality giftware in a sh*tole.. :| :|

Good luck with Dalvey...

I had an account with them for three years,

Called them October 2005 with a £3k Christmas stock order & was informed that my account had been closed, after asking WTF was going on, their response was that "you haven't ordered anything within the last six months", I didn't need anything within that period as I still had good stock levels from the £4K order eight months previous.

I told them "carry on" I'll invest my funds elsewhere

I was the only Dalvey stockist in my area, their loss not mine

There has already been 3 or 4 of you on here spouting about £2k-£3k orders. Once Dalvey recieve Lee's letter and look at the potential, they should have a closer look at our Trade, it could go to £20k - £30k I'm sure :D

If they then chose to ignore it, they truly do need shooting  I'm not sure any Company can afford to turn down that kind of business on a principal :? But I could be wrong 8-[
