Shoe Repairer Forum

These are my key cutting machines, Silca Club JR, Jakey Lynx, CEA Naty and a Jakey MK 2 Mortice. I've been so busy in the land of shoe repairs and engraving, got about 10 years left before I retire. I'm wondering if i should get into transponder keys proper. I have a transponder machine an MTR1000 which I bought in (1997 Useless now). Should I invest and advertise. Thoughts?

Yes, definitely, the bubble hasn't burst yet, I'd go for Zed-BULL, AD900Pro, or Key Crypt, as these are the front runners in this technology.

Charge well for future, then investment in Advanced Diagnostics products like AD100Pro or MVP Pro.

I fully agree with tell the ad900 pro is a great in shop cloner and if you dont work on your own get a ad100 pro to go outside and program the car keys that cant be cloned i couldnt live without mine.

I bought the bianchi 883 a few years ago, and whilst it will allow me to copy many of the transponders, the thing I find hardest is actually understanding the difference between the different types, which can be copied & which can't etc. The thing I would find most helpful is regular updates, or even better the chance of training courses from the suppliers.I use Davenports & have a catalogue from them from about 2002 which lists makes & models of car & states which key is for which - I find this the most helpful book I have, but of course it quickly goes (went!) out of date. The more recent full catalogue lists keys by make, but not model / year which is the most informative bit of info!

SKS Have a fairly good reference catalogue which they add updates to during the year you can order it from them or you can download it free from the website SKSKEYS.CO.UK/CATALOGUES

One thing to bear in mind is that the machines mentioned are definately the latest and greatest offerings, but they have a fairly hefty rise in price and complexity against say a TRS5000 or Fastcopy. It's worth if you can get a chance to play with them to see whether or not you're happy with the extra features.

*cough* Oh and shamless plug, the TRS5000 is on offer this month at 25% off *cough*
