alxfer
Don't know if it's new where you all are, but the missus picked up a leaflet at our local Asda. They now have a laser key cutting service in store. Cylinders £3.95 and Mortice £4.95 Wow! I'm undercutting Asda, how weird is that? Hoping to drop in soon to see what range of blanks they stock. Technical Tony original
I have seen these in the shops as well . Most of the time - people just walk past it as they do not really know what it is there for (Well on my visits - I seen that) But if this is anything like the machines that went into B & Q - there may be no need to worry - as many of the B&Q keys did not work on the key machine or they could not copy the end customers keys - again I know this from other customer talking to me and saying they were happy with the B&Q machine as customer were very very upset due this reason ... Any more info on the Asda machines would be good ? Maybe a locksmith could go in with a " RESTRICTED " key of their own and see if Asda will try to cut it ... MMMMmmm !! Dean
our local asda have started cutting keys and have an advertising board right by the main entrance. so last night i decided to go and have a look. there were no staff near the machine so i walked to the photo service area and asked the lady how i would go about getting a key cut "you give us the key and we cut it," she replied sarcastically i had a 62GE (hd ref) cylinder key on me so i gave it to her and she asked me to come back when i'd finished my shopping. 10 minutes later i went back and she informed me that they couldn't cut it when i asked why, her reply was, "because that key is not recognised by the key programme" and to top it off, this morning we've had a guy in who works for asda have £30-00 worth of keys cut! Auto Key Wizard
That won't be a fault with Laser-Key's technology, but an incapable machine operator (probably an ex civil servant) It was fine when I did the prototype trials for the yanks a few years back. ironplanet uk900
Its just another case of supermarket giants camping on the fringe of every town/City and gobbling up every service and line they possibly can, with one aim...... Destroy everything and everyone in there path. You can thank all your local councils for letting them have planning to open anywere they choose. Short sighted idiots who can't see no further than the end of there noses.
