Lee
There is a lot of talk on the forum about transponder keys & what can & can't be done. it seams to me that a lot of people don't know the full capabilities of the machines but is this something as a whole? Lee
clearly this appears to be an area where we could do with some help from our key suppliers. From my own point of view, I have to build my knowledge on experience & what I read here on the forum. Basic information, a GOOD fully UNDERSTANDABLE catalogue or a simple instruction manual would be a vast help in this field as 62% is a huge majority in the middle options on this survey. I would be happy to work with a supplier or member in building an online tutorial reference or instruction section here on the site. Lee
Michael
I would love something like this, I am one of the 62% vote so would be a great help for me. Would have to cover both Silca and Bianchi machines....lots of work...good luck. Having only known you (Lee) through this forum for the last 3 years you seem like the sort of bloke that when he wants to do something you do it 150% and keep going until it is the best you can make it.You have my total respect for doing all you do as well as keep a family happy.Just get yourself a couple of hours sleep per night if you take this on as well. Lee
ya, but they are so complicated its easy to get lost in the technology. Classic example, this question was asked to one of our members who works in the Silca factory & is taken directly from the chat room this afternoon. [Q]how do i get the update for my RW4? thanks [A]have you tried with silca remoste system (SRS) on your wintransfer? It might make sense to someone fully trained, fully coherent but to me, it meets a brick wall no bodies ever explained that the RW4 can be remotely updated, simple question. if the RW4 can be updated remotely, can my RW2 with tex code module. If so, what can I do with it? so on & so on. We need some form of manual, a how to guide, a where to guide. something more than we get at the moment. Just my thoughts, on observing this topic & the results theres a clear weakness in the market. Lee
kobblers
absolutely agreed it's not knowing even the most basic things about transponders, the types, the blanks, the machines which is preventing us from moving into it. reading some of the posts on here about them, they're very intimidating for those not in the know. rick. Lee
I would love something like this, I am one of the 62% vote so would be a great help for me. absolutely agreed I have today contacted 6 suppliers of transponders to get what ever I can in the way of information on the subject. It may be that when it arrives the project to to BIG for me, and as with one or two other things I've attempted to do in the past & the time restraints I HAVE to put on my work on the forum, it may get shelved or may take several months to complete. I will let you know in due course Lee
Mark Davis
Very simple, ask your rep which types of chips your machine can copy, lets say you have new JMA machine, so you can copy T5, 3C and 4D chips, When customer brings in car key, first thing you do is get car key catalouge out,( Silca is the best book by a mile) Ask customer make, model and year of vehicle look it up in catalogue next to key blank ref you will see chip ref if it's not T5, 3C or 4D don't bother putting it anywhere near your machine. Lee
well it appears this topic has raised a huge amount of interest & I have received some very interesting information through the post, this will help me increase my own limited knowledge but at this stage there are two interesting aspects the topic has generated the first is D-power has published this topic. which was meaningless to me but will help most! viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3354 the second is Matt Davenport has contacted me as he is very aware off the "Lack" of knowledge with transponders & is going to work on bringing us something we can understand! Hopefully he will make a better job of the subject than ever I could, so we can await this exciting development! Lee

D-Power
[...cut] [Q]how do i get the update for my RW4? thanks [A]have you tried with silca remoste system (SRS) on your wintransfer? It might make sense to someone fully trained, fully coherent but to me, it meets a brick wall no bodies ever explained that the RW4 can be remotely updated, simple question. [cut...] I have just helped Jay to upgrade Rw4 thought the CHAT yesterday... I will try to make something that can help to upgrade the machine... I'm a technician and I'm not involved directly in after-sales or technical support @ Silca, so is for that that I don't have the right view of knowledge (about key machines and computer) of our machines user... I have joined this forum for this, to see what are the issues, and I hope to help as much as possible.
Jay
a big thanks to d-power for his help yesterday =D> i was still using version 01.00.011 on my RW4 and asked d-power how i went about updating it and he kindly (& patiently!) talked me through how to upgrade to version 01.00.034....
