?? A rep told you the 399 had a " Optika " Built into it ??

A Bit lost here ... - Yes it has a Laser reader - to read the heights of the cuts etc - and yes with the silca software you can cut keys back to original height - BUT ... Its not an Optika ... !

the Optika - also " TRYS " to find the correct key Profile / Blank to use ! which really is the main use of that machine - The 399 can not do that at all ....

That says John is true, the main difference between 299 and 399 is the optical reader that allow to make a 1:1 copy from original key, or (trought PC software) to decode the bittings of the original key in way to obtain a new key with original height depts and spaces.

So the laser reader on 399 is only to copy or decode, not for recognyse the key profile.

Optica can be used at the side of 299-399, Idea and Primalaser cutting machines in way to verify the cuts of flat cylinder keys, bit keys, double bit keys and pump keys, and can verify if the duplicated key is acceptable in comparison with the original one. Optika reads and checks if the differences between keys cuts are within a predefined tolerance, giving the operator the possibility to evaluate the accuracy of the key copied.
