ANDY
i have a 100, and i say go for it. you will never look back, no more feeding one or two plates a time, sitting in front of a machine all day on big orders. i think you can squeeze in about 180 of 50x15mm plates at a time, then set it off running, this now gives you a valuable break to make a coffee and think about what you are going to do with all your newfound free time. if you have other machines to do your cups and medals etc. i would recommend a laser, as it opens up your market for signage, glass, photo engraving, it cuts out great too, i made my son a death star like the one i had when i was a lad & also a 3d dinosaur puzzle. my next project is a tardis..... if you are still in doubt, i'll be more than happy to persuade you further. Guest Iain Cheall
I am not convinced at all with a lazer, My only use for one would be stainless steel and I have only been asked once for that in the last 4 years.
ANDY
the plates i referred to are the standard trophy plates (aluminium) and you can do a matrix thing and engrave 180 in one hit. the bed size is about 460x300mm. as for house door plates, there are a few different plastics you can engrave. gravoply ultra comes in many colours. you can also get plastics with a metalic finish. and also gravoglas, kind of a perspex in various colours that you reverse engrave. i have had mine for about a year. i also do brass plaques on mine using black coated brass, i engrave away the background, leaving the letters. bit of brasso and they come up real nice. you can laser wood really well too. i have done drumsticks, photo frames, wood medal boxes with club logo's. i have also made a jig that holds 3 medals at a time for engraving on my is200. you can do ipods, make your own key rings, cut out any shape you like in gravoply ultra, acrylic & thin wood. photo engraving is good too, i did really well for mothers day with a couple of products i created. i am now doing signage for schools, hotels, car rental firms & the industrial sector,as for stainless steel, i haven't done any "yet" and my machine is running all day. the laser has really expanded my engraving market, its bed size is just right, i haven't had a job thats too big for it yet, the speed is great too, without it i would not have gained two very important customers who spend at the least £100.00 a week each on engraving their products, on a good week they could spend £300.00, with no outlay for materials that makes me
