Guest Iain Cheall
fantastic video's and as a non shoe repairing person a real insight into the way shoes are put together and are crafted. Top class work by a true craftsman at the top of his trade. Thank you for sharing these with us
Guest Marcell
You exaggerate.. I am just a shoemaker, who took a camera, and film a few hours. But thanks for this appreciation. Glad you like them.

Peter / Sweden
Marcell, good work.A question - Who makes the upper for you? Is it also made in Hungary? watch the video again he made it himself Correct me if I'm wrong, but i cant see Marcell do any closing work on the videos ( stitching the upper together). Marcell is a Shoemaker and not ( i think ) a closer. There are four categories of craftsmen involved in making a shoe - A Last maker, do the last. A Clicker, cuts all the pieces out. A Closer, stitch all the upper parts together, And a Shoemaker, who puts everything together. (this is what Marcell do on the video) Some Shoemakers, not many, have the skill to do it all. Maybe Marcell is one of them, i don't now.....

The person who do the patrons before cutting I think that all are the same important for the good finished. Health!

Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Foot Measure/Last Maker Pattern maker/Cutter/(Clicker) Closer Assemble/Make Finish Sell I believe Marcell does them all, sometimes last making is not required as I use Masking or Gaffer type tape to cover the foot then use universal lasts, although it is more difficult to get the toe stiffeners lasted to a decent shape. Guest Marcell
Marcell, good work.A question - Who makes the upper for you? Is it also made in Hungary? Yes, they are made in Hungary. I have a designer, who organise the upper making, but soon I will employ someone who will sew them for "Koronya Shoes" - my company. ... Oh, I just recognised a question: yes, I can design and make the upper also, but I am not half effective in it than my collague, so I focus on shoemaker's job. BTW I still design may uppers, because it is more simple than explain to someone. And a good news: I plan to make a video about last-making, and upper-making also. I don't know when it will be finished.
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
For those interested you can purchase ready made uppers here. Or al least you could do so at one time they were in the Gotz catalogue at one time. You can make your own pattern, have knives made to stamp out the leather, or hand cut them and then get the smaller manufacturers to sew them up for you.
