neilyuk
Hope u guys can give me some pointers on what machines I should be considering for a first time purchase I'm looking for a relatively "easy to operate" computerised engraver which will allow me to offer a wide range of products such as pet tags, pens, Zippos, hip flasks, door signs, plaques etc. I plan to site it in my new premises for the first 6-7 months but ultimately have it fixed into a exhibition trailer which I will be using at fairs and markets. So it needs to be quite compact as well. So far I have looked at the M20/M20 Jewel which I like due to the red laser positioning system but not so sure about the 100 x 100mm engraving area. Also looking at the U-MARQ GEM-RX4 & GEM-FX4 which both come in at the same price and both seem quite capable of fitting the bill. Any good or bad info on these machines would be greatly appreciated as with any other machine recommendations One last thing....what's the market/demand like for ring engraving Thanks in advance Neil
kobblers
i don't know much about computerised engravers but i woulda thought 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4") on any machine was very small, even to be starting off with. i'd definitely look at something with at least 12" x 8" or near as damn it., especially if you're thinking of doing the larger plaques. ring engraving is very profitable especially if you can come to a deal with your local jewellers as that's where the goods are likely to be purchased from and the first person they'll ask about engraving is probably the jeweller. hope this helps some, good luck

Have you considered looking at the IS200TX with an inside ring engraving attachment? This will allow you to do everything you have mentioned above, PLUS tankards, trophies, annual awards and the inside and outside of rings! Plus the working area is larger at 225mm x 80mm. The machine is not heavy at all, and relatively easy to transport. Also with the Gravostyle 5 software you have the option for something called LONG PLATE MODE, which will allow you to do larger plates.
