Guest Phill
Do any of you ever get asked for new yale type cylinders working from an existing key? Or a customer wants to buy 2 or more new cylinder locks working from the same key? If so, do you order them in, or do them yourself?
bobc
I tend to keep a couple of different cylinders in stock that are keyed alike. But otherwise order them in at the customer's request. At next day delivery unless you are doing a lot of repinning/keying alike it doesn't seem (to me personally) worthwhile having different sources of pins available for the odd one off job
Mark A
I keep a couple of 1109 cylinders keyed alike in in both SC and PB, but also have Yale pinning kit and usually repin cylinders myself, much quicker in the instance of a failed cylinder on a communal door in a block where cylinder is required to work off existing keys. Guest Phill
What about Euro's and Other profile cylinders? get much call for them?
Mark A
Not so much on Euros and cant ever remember being asked to key alike any Ovals at all. I keep a few pairs of the common sizes in Euros keyed alike in stock as occasionally use these on french door sets, and have in the past pinned single cylinders alike for double garage doors, but generally I find most clients dont want keyed alike cylinders throughout the house incase they ever loose a key and then have to change all the locks. But oddly I do a fair few mortice locks that require KA. Mark
