kobblers
we've just replaced the thumbturns for the vices on our lancer and i've gotta say that we're dissappointed with the quality of the plastic used in them. we've only had them on a week and yet one of them is cracking in about five different places already, has anyone else had this problem? rick. petercoulson
assuming you have a lancer plus, i have heard of several people having this problem. the better answer it seems is to order the handles for the older lancer which seem stronger (if i remember correctly check with supplier that they are a straight swap which i am sure they are)
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Smash the stuff off and get a square plate welded on top of the thread. That is after you have received the new ones.
hibsjo(SCO)
Quickfix superglue sorts the problem. ours broke 2 years ago glued it and its never looked like breaking again.
ironplanet uk900
I have the old Lancer, which as Peter says you don't get a problem, except sometimes they are hard to undo because the grip is to small. I've just brought the newer one, but haven't used it yet. so I'll have to watch that
ironplanet uk900
Another thing to bare in mine, don't leave it to long before you change your cutting wheel, as when the cutter is blunt, you tend to over tighten your vice to stop the blank turning. then breaking your thumb turn
