kobblers
has anyone here had the same problem with the silca lancer as we keep getting? twice now this year we've had to replace the thumbturns that lock the vices as they keep wearing on the thread and we don't fancy having to stump up for new ones again. does anyone know what's causing this, surely it can't be the thumbturns themselves, can it? the bolt that they thread onto looks just fine. rick. 'Onest Andy
Hi Rick.... When you mention the thumb turns which tighten the vices are you referring to the two with the red top to them? Or the one underneath with the plain knured top?
kobblers
the ones that tighten the vices. i stripped the whole vice unit down today and have come to the conclusion that the vice keeper bolt needs replacing!
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Ensure that the 2 vice blocks are level when tightening these screws, if they are on an angle then you will have to assert more pressure on the screws therefore stripping the threads.
