'Onest Andy
I also use GP I think I pay about 15 - 16p for them. I buy from LBS. Very quick and efficient service. excellent range of straps and tools too.
Lee
I tend to order the majority of my batteries from Darlena. I order ALL my watch straps from them, which are exceptional! they do all the usual suspects along with rolled gold and solid gold straps. they also do the magna therapy bracelets which are a nice earner around this time of year. Darlena also do standard house hold batteries (AA, AAA, C & D etc.) and 3 volt batteries on a hanger card. having these on display always draws attention to the watch batteries. Although their batteries are a little pricey at arround 19p for a 377 its easy to add my batteries & straps order together. incidentally I recently received a price list from LBS who wholesale GP, it listed the 377 at 17p each? Darlena supply Varta cells which are exceptional and they stock rarer batteries such as 44, 346, 751, 339 etc. which are available individually. for reference you can find GP batteries at http://www.gpbatteries.com.hk/html/front/index.html a UK wholesaler for GP batteries is http://www.lbslondon.co.uk Varta batteries can be found at http://www.varta.com/eng/ a UK wholesaler for Varta batteries is http://www.darlena.co.uk/ Varta are a german brand where GP are Hong kong based, I personally always feel its worth the extra 1 or 2p per cell to be able to tell the odd customer my batteries are german, I think I would be reluctant with British culture to mention they where made in Hong Kong. although I have nothing against the GP brand I have never actually fitted them, or even handled them. As with so many posts you have to judge your own market. Lee
'Onest Andy
Well I agree with the sentiment of wishing to be sure you are fitting a quality battery into customers often highly valued ( both monetray and sentimental) watches. When I first came across LBS and the GP range I was very skeptical because of what was then a very low price compared to others. However when I put this to LBS their responce was to tell me there is a 2 year gurantee against failure and leaks with the GP range. After that I have never looked back. I offer customers a 12 month guratantee to allow for the time some of the batteried may sit in the cabinet before beng fitted and to date have never had one fail before it's time was up.
