Star 2000
grahamparker replied to robinh's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
A good friend of mine still has a star 2000 machine i sold him second hand 10 years ago,i made one good machine from his original and our old machine. We didn't have ours very long as a blade vectis machine became available at a price that i could not turn down. I have just spoken to him and the only definate fact is that it takes the 750 s/f cutters and the 850w ward cutter. I also made a few enquiries with some suppliers and i think any other part you require you will probably have to have manufactured by a local engineering firm or consider replacing. -

Keys Cut To Code
grahamparker replied to key cabin's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
Hi Dave, I can do both these keys for you, have sent a pm with costs. Cheers Graham -
Your best bet is to contact a local joiners or woodworking shop and ask them to produce something for you. We have used several local joiners to make bases for unusuall items or to replace old trophy bases and they have always been well recieved by our customers.

Key ID?
grahamparker replied to sleutel's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
We cut all this type of key on the ab38p keyblank for all the cheap abus granite copies using the silca delta machine with abloy jaw.The blanks are a lot wider but if you cut one side down all the way accross the remove excess material with a file then cut second side as normal they will work 99% of these cheap locks. The only one we have a problem with is the oxford locks as the centre groove needs filing out to allow the key blank to enter the lock. Must cut about 10-15 a week as we are the only keycutters with the blanks and machinery capable of doing these and we charge £7.50 each inc vat. Great money spinner for us most of the locks are fitted to passage way gates so even at the price we charge most seem willing to pay as they think the locks are high security,we have a local discount store selling these locks with 4 keys for £8.50. -

Unfortunatly you will not be the only one to suffer in this way. About 14 years ago we had an employee who had taken his holidays and then requested another week off to move in with his new (and first) girlfriend. As we had about 8 employees who were also due holidays my dad said no,but he took the time off anyway. The next week when he arrived for work my dad sacked him. At the time my dad hadn't realised what a stupid mistake this was, after about 4 months we were called to an employment tribunal and had to pay him about £8500.00 and we had to take him back on.Luckily he worked for 3 days got his money and handed in his notice. This in some way led to my dad haveing a breakdown and retiring from work,he had always believed you can hire and fire whoever you like. Sad the way things like this can put people out of business,i personally must have scoured my knuckles off at least 5 times in the early years.Think of the money i could have got. Best thing is if you can come through this o.k. you can only get wiser and stonger. Hope it doesn't get any worse. -

Just the blank or a key to code ??? -
Do any forum members sharpen and repair hairdressing scissors ? I have three hairdressers with 100 yards of my shop, one next door and have just been told how much it can cost to sharpen and adjust a pair of scissors. £35.00 inc vat for about 10 mins work.Sam next door to me didn't seem to think that this was expensive but i did. I have sharpened normal houshold scissors, shears and knives for years but if you can get away with charging these ammounts i thought i would explore what kind of machinery is required to do the job, or find a forum member i can send them to if they can offer a good rate for other members.

Knob Sets
grahamparker replied to golfmad's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
sks maybe worth a try or aldridges specials for the era knobsets,Not sure how quick a turnaround they offer but i have just been quoted 10 days for 20 era 975 padlocks k.a. to customers key. -
One issue that crossed my mind before i opted for the ad100 was "did i want to become an auto electrician" as the answer to this was no the ad100 was exactly what i was looking for. The option to reset error codes on there machine usually only refers to anything key or keyfob related. One thing i didn't want to happen was to program in a key for the customer to say that the air bag light has come on and it was my fault. As the machine i bought had nothing to do with the airbag i could say that it was nothing i had done to cause this. Resetting fault codes does not always cure the fault and it could come back as soon as the customer has taken the vehicle away(vauxhall airbag lights ar notorious for this) which means more time and effort which could cost you not only the customer but a lot of your own time trying to correct a fault that really requires a new air bag unit or something else.

05 plate Seat Altea

I have a friend (like mick friend, who also knows everything) and his explanation for this is, A radio frequency transmitter will burn out with use which is why the distance for key usage always gets shorter the older the key.Every time the key is used electrons bounce around and burn out the transmitter leading to the problem you describe. I dont know if there is any scientific evidence to back this up but it seems a good explanation to me. You can always hold the key against your head to increase the distance as your body acts as a magnifier to boost the signal. -

Yes insert original key in ignition and turn to position 2 then back four times (within 6 seconds) car will beep. Press any button on remote and car will beep again. Turn ignition to position 2 then off. Wait 10 Seconds and remote should work. -
Honda Civic Key

These are a pig to cut even using our triax-e-code there are four different versions of this key. Honda (4T-6W) Sub & Main There are two systems for cutting these Honda keys, which differ in the way the cut comes off the key at the point nearest the head; see figures below. Honda (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.05) system Honda (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.41) system The system to be used must be chosen carefully as the two are not compatible. The easiest way to find the best system to use is to take the measurement marked on the figures with letter "A". (A is the measurement at the top of the key where the cut starts) For the (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.05) system measurement "A" must have a value of approximately 6.85 millimetres (0.270 inches). For the (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.41) system measurement "A" must have a value of approximately 6.13 millimetres (0.241 inches). For the Honda (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.05) system use Serial Numbers 805 and 806. For the Honda (4T-6W) Sub & Main (1.41) system use Serial Numbers 582 and 619. If you are manually cutting this key then you may need to re-adjust you machine. -

I assume you have supplied a non remote key as a duplicate,if this is the case then NW Keys in liverpool supply a compatible remote which can be used to turn the alarm off.We have used about 20 of these so far without any real problems.Very good price to. http://www.nwkeys.co.uk/Portal.aspx?pag ... &prod=9205 -
Key cut to code
grahamparker replied to key cabin's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
Can you not open it up and check the wafer heights. If you can't try shining a torch down the key way and use a probe, pick, needle to look at the drops of each wafer. As there are only 3 heights you should be able to work out what each one is, a 3 will drop the most a 1 the least.Start with the last wafer and work outwards yourself and then using your depth keys you should be able to do this, thats how i do all the ones we get. The only problem you may have is if it isnt a lowe and fletcher lock then it may have more than 5 cuts or 3 depths. 92156 cuts are 12123 -
Got my P-box yesterday and have already cut and programmed the 5 supplied heads, yes i know they will only work for some vehicles that dont need remote entry or have alarms fitted but 4 of these have gone to garages who are selling the vehicle on and as long as the key works, they are more than happy. Hope i can get additional heads soon as there doesnt seem to be any uk stock as yet. Also no blades either.

keyed alike padlocks
grahamparker replied to a topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
Hi have you tried b&g lock tool they manufacture padlocks and can have a quick turn around, they also stock a 32mm and not a 30mm long shackle or 40mm long shackle.Abus uk will not supply padlocks direct so you will need to contact either toolbank or hoppe uk.We needed 12,250 padlocks keyed alike in sets of 125 within a 4 week period about three years ago a local oil refinery and burg (through onyx) came up trumps for us so it may be worth contacting them as well.Lastly you could always try squire as they also produce and can have a rapid turn around time. B & G tel 01902 605946 Hoppe uk 01902 484400 Toolbank 0800 0686238 Burg 07776 184185 (michael herbert) Squire 01902 308050 Also try codringtons for federal padlocks 02088898494 Keyprint for wks 0131 5550909 Best of luck. -
assa key
grahamparker replied to chiefwiggum's topic in Key Cutting - Sponsored by What's The Damage & Locking Systems
The code you refer to is an assa master key system reference code and you will only know which blank to use by using the assa gauge or contacting assa direct to find out who supplied that particular system. The assa key guage will probably be the easiest way to find out and is available from keyprint, they also stock most of the key blanks as well. -
The p-box alows the decoding and programming of the new ehp heads for the crypto 46 keys. The snoop device connects to the customers key as you have to collect information from the customers vehicle before it can be programmed. Tou will also need to upgrade your machine as only the fast copy and rw4 will work with the p-box. If you have an rw3 you can upgrade the circuit board internally so it then becomes an rw4 Approx £350 + vat. Check out the silca website and have a read and it will explain a lot more.

Ingersol rand will no longer deal with locksmiths anymore you need to go through adridges specials department.I had dealt with them for over 15 years until i recieved a letter last year stating i didnt spend enough to warrant a direct account.
